Do you have some sort of problem with me admitting I'm not going to spend half an hour tracking down a source? Would you rather I lied and told you I was 100% certain?

It really makes no difference whether you think developers having more money is a good thing or not, and it's a tedious argument I don't want to get into. I can assure you developers are going to consider it a good thing. So it's going to happen. It's been happening for a long time.

Ok  let me Put it like this     we have  alot of lack luster DLC  I dislike saying nickel and Dime  but  its true that is why Developers  have to stoop too make money and we as games are geting Screwed over that dlc is stuff that should have been in the game in the frist place  big brother retailers are geting larger slice of the pie and  places like gamestop  make even more money on used games

Lack luster DLCs are because of the developers themselves, not retailers

It's the future. Both customers and developers are throwing away money to manufacturers, shipping, and retail. Digital downloads mean the developers get a bigger piece of the pie, which means higher quality games.

That's not necessarily true.

Indeed. The money made for games comes from the budget that the publisher allocates to the developers, not the money made from the product itself.

The financial return and reception from the game may however cause the developer to allocate a higher budget with a sequel (or to not fund one at all.)

And that alone only applies to the finances for the game.

You can throw a literal ton of money at a bad idea and still have it turn out as a bad idea.

I don't get why people are so attached to physical copies of video games. If I told someone I bought CD's instead of using iTunes because I wanted physical copies of my music, most would stare at me like I was some kind of weirdo. Now that day 1 digital is a thing for both the One and PS4, I see myself buying fewer and fewer digital versions. I only time I see myself getting physical versions is if there's a pre-order bonus or some physical item with the collector's edition I really want.

I like the Middle men, My GameStop is full of decent human beings who need the job. So support your local shop, because your crusade might just burn those it intends to save.

I think you know it doesn't work like that.

A lesson in capitalism is probably needed here.

Their job is replaceable and really do-nothing when you think about it. Do they really need to be there? Does gamestop really need to exist?

It's like the DVD store, or the record store, or even the comic book store. Hell, even the bookstore is going this way.

I will always prefer physical copies of games.

If the day ever comes that they are no longer produced, then I will no longer buy video games.

Yes.

Just because you are able to download an entire game does not mean the rest of the world can. There are bandwidth limits, people out in the middle of nowhere with ****ty internet, and other factors that make disks still practicable. Until the world gets better internet infrastructure. Disks will be here to stay.

The Quadruple and the One very well may be the last consoles with discs.

GameStop will die in our lifetime, boys.

And yet people still collect records, comic books and first edition novels (or rather any novels).....it's not THAT weird, some people just like having a physical copy of something they buy.

I read somewhere that out of the $60 retail price for a phyiscal copy, a developer gets about $8. With digital downloads, they get about $30. I can't back that up and admit it might be totally wrong, but there you go.

More resources does not really influence the quality of the game. It seems so because of more resources but it is not guaranteed that you will make an A+ game.

Putting computer parts in a machine doesn't turn it into a PC. A Microsoft sytem running a version of a Microsoft OS doesn't say anything.

You need to learn and understand the difference between resources not necessarily contributing to a quality game and resources never contributing to a quality game.
