I wanted to ask, because a friend of mine told me that a patch had introduced a bug that made ranged damage garbage compared to melee and magic. Is that still true?

I felt the same Form, I've made so many different hero's and different roles, Obviously the easiest is support heals / CC. But i wanted to try a ranger and the dmg just seems so pathetic.

Thoughts??

Well I don't wanna have any melee at all except a tank when fighting a fracking dragon or something. >.<

Well basic archery maybe underpowered but it's fun for me because of the Ranger speciality. If you use Repeater gloves which I haven't used than you can use Aim effectively. I've played archers many times.

It's definitely viable. They need some unique building though. If you're on console, what you might be thinking of is that 1.04 broke aim time for haste and swift salve and rock mastery has always been broken on it.

On PC, combine 3 bards and shale, and his aura will let you reach the fastest aim time even with aim activated. That lets you get upwards of 80% crit on your 3 archers, plus shale has some nice damage and cc with her rock mastery talents.

On console a 4 archer party is more likely. Keep the 3 bards, and alistair you get early enough that he can be moulded into a decent archer. Only one char gets repeater gloves and can use aim - either the warrior, or the first bard to turn on SoC (presumably the pc).
