Why did they keep the same voice actor for MaleShepard?

Dude... your character can't just change voice.
You mean the same way your character can't just change his apearance or his profession?
That was my point.

Would it make you feel better to know that, for better or worse (depending on how you enjoyed the Shepard VO in ME1), Meer's and Hale's reads on ME2 are more similar while not diminishing either actor's awesomeness?

Personally I think he did an awesome job, and ME would be poorer without him. I was just laughing the other day when he said that reporter khalisa al julani was "full of crap" to Hackett when playing ME1.

This is exactly what I said ages ago in the other forums...
Voice actors read their lines over and over again, untill they get the inflections and attitude that the director wants.
If people think that anyones voice acting was rubbish, then it's entirely down to the director as that was how he asked for it.

I mean, Jayne from Firefly as Shepard...what part of that wouldn't be cool?
I really wish it were possible to go back in time and make that a reality.

Not sure how it's relevant but... yeah, actually, there seems to be some truth to that. Maybe BW should put up a Marcus Fenix?GmanFresh wrote...

Personally, while I thought Hale was a little better, I had/have no problem with Meer. He did a fine job.

Ex: Asian, Black or White. I think he did a great job.
^ But thats just my personal view anyways.....
But I have a question.....In that trailer for the first game, the cinematic one with "Calistan" and Ash + Garrus....
Was that the original voice actor???

Mark Meer is a heck of a guy. I've done improv with him, and I've spoken with him on many occasions. He is about as big a geek as once can get, and from what I've heard, he enjoyed voicing Shepard (and several other characters in ME2). He is capable of much more expression than you can hear in the ME1 dialogue, but don't you think that if he was really as bad as some people claim that we would have kept him on? That the VO director wouldn't change his read during his recording sessions or give him directions to, in essence, "act better?"

As good as he is, I can't help but wonder how entertaining Adam Baldwin would be in his place. I mean, Jayne from Firefly as Shepard...what part of that wouldn't be cool? Can't wait to see how he did with Kal'Reegar.
What part? Everything perhaps? Not everyone is a Firefly fan.
Chris Barrie has as much right to voice Shepard as that guy. Hes a guy from a sci-fi comedy I like. How about that instead?

Maybe in your head he sounds more emotional or evil but you just gotta accept that the voice is one of the few things you cant customise with your Shep.

Nevermind for me Meer really sets the tone as a hardened, stoic marine.
I mean can you imagine Cam Clarke as Shepherd? xD [I love Cam, but just...no...for Shepherd]

What has liking Firefly got to do with it?
He's talking about the actor not the prgram, he referenced the program so you knew who he meant.

He always sounds like he's putting on an act. Like he's trying to come off as a "bad ass", but not pulling it off. Like a wanna-be, or something?

I think you just hit the nail on the coffin. Most people want to imagine their own voice talking the way they wan't to talk. The majority of people who prefer Hale are probably male so they're more open to accept a female voice.

Hes talking about the character. "Jayne from Firefly, how cool would that be". Its "I think hes awesome in Firefly and would automatically be awesome as Shepard".
Hes already got a role like the guy pointed out, and I hope to god its not walking, talking firefly reference.
