Why did they keep the same voice actor for MaleShepard?

Kaidan wasn't an N7? Strange, since he served under Commander Shepard, and was an officer himself. If Kaidan wasn't N7, then what was he? A regular Marine? That doesn't make any sense to me, and is probably just a logic quirk in the game.
Perhaps you should read the Codex again.
You've obviously never been around Military guys before.....especially elite forces Military guys.. And you can't say that real life doesn't have any impact, because it does. This game draws heavily from the real world for inspiration.
Lol. Obviously. Actually, I have served in the military, tho I obviously don't need to bring it up randomly for no reason whatsoever...
What you wrote has no meaning, since Alistair and Kaidan are obviously not alpha male type personalities, which was your original claim. So why did you try to sidetrack and claim that in RL they would be something else, than what they are in the game? And what relevance does that have to your original claim?
Yes and Bioware had their motivations for "castrating" Kaidan and Alistair. For one, they were romanceable by FemShep (female PC), and although a lot of women love the dominant alpha male types, many women are turned off by them....until the alpha male learns to increase his sensitivity around them, then he becomes perfect.
Also, making Alistair and Kaidan more dominant (or true to life) would take the shine off the PC..
Just think, Kaidan was one rank under Shepard, so he should be capable of leading or commanding. But this would have obviously contradicted the game's storyline.
Yes, them being alpha male personalities might cause problems. If you "waste" enough time and Sten has had enough, he will challenge you. Alistair and Kaidan do not. So we are in an agreement then that A & K are not alpha males? Which was my whole point all along.

I would believe it, actually. And it does make me feel pretty good.Stanley Woo wrote...
He is about as big a geek as once can get, and from what I've heard, he enjoyed voicing Shepard (and several other characters in ME2).
...
Would it make you feel better to know that, for better or worse (depending on how you enjoyed the Shepard VO in ME1), Meer's and Hale's reads on ME2 are more similar while not diminishing either actor's awesomeness?
For the first game, I was very disappointed by the emotional difference, for instance, in the quest "I Remember Me." Jennifer Hale made that quest a tearjerker every time; Mark Meer didn't seem to have the experience to make it happen. Maybe it was just a character choice, or maybe the director didn't think a military man needed to show much emotion and thus wasn't as critical as I would've hoped for... whatever the case, in the first game I felt a bit disappointed when I compared the two.
But so far, from the vids for Mass Effect 2, there seems to be a subtle difference that I am liking. I think it's conviction; he just sounds like he means what he's saying more this time. I look forward to my Dude!Shep playthrough a lot more for this game. I hope in the sadder scenes that he really gets a manly lump in his throat; that I would like to hear. I don't expect a male voice actor to sound all weepy and girly, that's not what I mean, but I do expect him to sound more than a little bummed if one of his friends or his love interest should get killed.
Or if a bottle of really fine and rare Belgian earth-beer that he was saving up gets cruelly dashed to pieces somehow. I expect hoarseness, passion, and restrained man-tragedy in such an event. I want to hear choked tears in his voice, dammit! REACH, my man, REACH!! REACH for that beer that you could not save, that you will never have; that BEAUTIFUL Westvleteren crushed upon the agonizing rocks of existence in this cold and unforgiving abyss of space...
I'm glad you stuck with him. I'd like to see what he can do. And for better or worse, he's Shepard now. Better, I expect.

The VA's did amazing. Much better than almost every other game.
On the note of VA's, I watched a history video in class today narrated by Martin Sheen...

Anyway, they presumably kept Meer because it's still the same character, so stick with the same actor. I'm rather neutral on his performance.

But to not like Mark Meer's performance you must have very high standards.

Huh, I rather liked Mr. Meer, I thought he was awesome. I will admit, he is a much better voice for the renegade options. I didn't dislike Hale's FemShep, I just don't think it fit how she looked is all. Because of her voice, I just couldn't bring myself to do a full playthrough as a FemShep. My two cents.
I couldn't disagree more - the voice talent for femshep was very credible for a woman in a position of leadership. A firm, calm and commanding voice without sounding too man-ish is difficult to balance

Meer's voice is basically male shep. For better or worse. He did an alright job at it in my opinion. Better than the majority of games out there - but nothing exceptional.
Hale's performance for female shep was stronger in my opinion, but she has an insanely long resume of voice acting experience. Even with that, Meer's performance holds up adequately when put next to Hale's.
I'm glad Meer was used for ME2 and I certainly hope (and expect) he'll be back for ME3.

I hate how people talk about Hale as if her voicing of Shepard is SOOOO much better than Meer's, when really they're both pretty much equal. They're both pretty excellent, and sometimes some of their lines sound a little off.

The guy is so god damned deadpan it hurts. There was no imation to his voice acting at all. Happy, sad, lustfull all sounded the same... My main Shepard was FemShepard mostly since she was actually voiced well. God I hope the voice actor dose better this time.
