So like the title states, I continue to have the game simply crash on me. I'm just wondering if its a settings that i am missing. My machine is top of the line, so im wondering if that is the problem with this being an older game.
Any thoughts?

Some background processes do interfere with the game. Try to run as little as possible...

Mine crashed a few times too. Last night it crashed 3 times. I run on an I7 laptop.

Probably the Operating system.
What you can do is see if your pc will run an emulator of the an older system in use when DAO came out and if so download and run it on that.
What OS do you have ?

If you're playing a mage, spells like mana clash sometimes do it on any PC. I'm playing a pretty good system as well and there's even one fight that fireball crashes. Certain area transitions are a problem as well, especially the ones in Lothering. Going through any door has gotten me into the habit of saving every 30 seconds. There is a mod that replaces the visual effects that cause the crash for mana clash with something less resource draining. I'm finding it more helpful to just save obsessively.
