So, what do you do when lying dead on your back during the beginning of waves 7-9 after you decided to Biotic Charge a Phantom, for example?

1) Bathroom break,
2) Pour another drink
3) Rage quit
4) Study the other players and figure out who's the best or who is "cheating"?
5) ????

Alt tab, I usually have at least 3 windows open with writing, forums, another game, facebook, etc.

Although, sometimes if there's a player who's particularly interested me I'll just sit back and drink my beer and watch. It's fun to watch a krogan who's really getting into it go headbutting around.

most of my sync kills are usually at the end of the wave, so I just wait for 30 seconds of so for the wave to end.

Well, when playing with randoms, I don't have to do anything because I'm always the last person left standing (pugs bleed out at the beginning of every wave in every game, always). The game invariably ends when I die.

90% of the time I will watch the kill cam for a few seconds until the mission failed screen pops up.
The other 10% of the time I will usually randomly flip around between the other players, unless one of the other players is actually good, in which case I watch them and try to learn from how they play.

It depends on who I'm playing with.

If I'm playing with friends and sync'd, I don't move because the wave will be over before I get back.
If I'm playing with pugs...well, I go get a sandwich, go to the bathroom, refill my glass/mix my drink, because they will a) take forever, get sync'd, or c) all get gunned down by the same elite enemy.
If I'm playing with BSNers that I don't have on my friends list, I switch to them and make fun of them every time they mess up. Playing with me is a blast ;p

Depends on the circumstances of the synch-kill.

If it was a surprise, I'd say "WTF?!" then watch the rest of the wave. Maybe get something to eat or drink or look for more music to listen to on YouTube while I play (mostly Linkin Park).

If it is the result of someone deciding to steal the Banshee's Magnet Hands, I'd probably punch something. Most likely a pillow or couch cushion.

If it is because of lag, I'd quit.

With the usual crowd It doesn't take long.
Duo/PUG keep an eye out for flanking enemies.
