Curious what u folks think about the grey wardens activities with this Mage/Templar war raging, veils torn open, Corypheus on the loose etc. The grey wardens are legendary warriors picked for their battle prowess. They must have some part in all this. I personally think they will be a faction to assist and maybe utilize for a wise inquisitor. Thoughts?

Judging by the trailers. If that is Cassandra attacking they are probably playing with demons to stop the darkspawn. Or maybe one of their leaders has gone mad cause of Corey.

Don't know. Will see in the game. My guess. Coryphus is manipulating the Order and you have to depose him and get the Wardens back in track. The Wardens you are fighting I wager are the ones who are brain washed.

Probably the Wardens are having a fair share of trouble trying to make sense of: the empty prison of Corypheus, the sentient darkspawn (not to mention the alliance the Warden Commander could have made with the Architect) and what happened in Ferelden if the Dark Ritual was done.
Moreover, given the apparent connection (?) between the Fade and Darkspawn Corypheus might have it extremely easy to manipulate the order. On a last note the intrest the Wardens showed toward the Primeval Thaig means there might be some new piece of information they know and we don't.
Maybe I am overthinkingm, but I can't shake the feeling the disappearence of the whole house Valdasine and the fact Valdasine's staff was found in the Thaig could be key elements of the puzzle.

The Wardens are doing whatever Corypheus wants them to do.

We have an attack on what seems to be Grey Wardens in the E3 Trailer.

We saw a quest (in game) to find a Warden-Commander in the GameInformer preview videos that showed the Inquisition party being attacked by Grey Wardens and shades.

We have the concept art of the supposedly Grey Warden companion ripping his Warden's amulet off after freeing himself from the noose.

We have World of Thedas rumors saying that the First Warden is trying to make a coup and take the throne of the Anderfels.

We have DA2 and the Nathaniel's quest in Act 3 that said it was strange time, they had strange allies and they were trying to gain access to the Primeval Thaig in that game.

We have DA2 legacy codex entries that shows that the higher up in the order hides things to all the other Wardens. In other word, they are manipulated with the claims that they will ends the blights.

My conclusion using the above is that the forum is going to explode in anger because DAI is going to show the Grey Wardens as antagonists and the player will have to kill a bunch of them.

(SPOILERS FOR AWAKENING)

A question: Isn't it "official" that those allies are the Architect and his darkspawns? I ask since I never killed the Architet in Awakening and I wanted to know whether also people who did had Nathaniel saying that phrase.

If I recall correctly, The World of Thedas mentions that the Warden boss (whatever his title is) in Weishaupt basically rules the Anderfells and has become pretty corrupt. There might have been a line on this in the Warden Keep DLC as well. So I suspect the attack will have something to do with this. The inquisitor probably wants a change of leadership for the wardens.

Bioware seems to be turning the templars into ME3 cerberus so i doubt they'd do the same with the GW's.

Being how I'm already anti-templar, that dosen't bother me at all. Line them up and I'll cut them down.

Id prefer to have a choice on siding with templars or mages rather then being forced to help the mages & having all templars being enemies.

Another thing about the Wardens and the Primeval Thaig: It is said Red Lyrium weakens the Veil (the thing soon to be torn), so they might have been interested in that... which is possibly pretty ominous.

And you should also add Corypheus-Warden connection, because even if Corypheus is really dead, it still shows that the Wardens can make pretty poor decisions (Janeka) in hopes of ending the Blights.

Corypheus has caused strife within the Grey Wardens and this has led to conflict between the various nations' orders. With the Wardens disorganized Corypheus plans to begin a new blight, but then the event that tears open the veil happens and several Warden orders band together to face it. This forces Corypheus to start an all out war between Warden orders to keep his plans from falling apart, which is when Stroud leaves the Wardens and joins our Inquisition.

Why go with one side or the other when is easier to just kill them all and remove the whole problem.

Maybe they are going to make a deal with the demons. Let them possess people, and in exchange, they help eradicate the darkspawn.

*shrug* Maybe there will be a group of Corypheus-influenced Grey Wardens who turn against the Order. If so, these might be the ones that Cassandra, etc., are fighting in what we've seen so far.

This scenario also gives Bioware a chance to deal with the issue of *the* Warden or the Orlesian Warden.

There is still the chantry. Notice that the people attacking the fortress are not templars. So you can side with controlling mages with chantry but not Templars. Assuming Templars do get cerberus treatment.

It's probably this one at ~2:45 where you are in Adamant fortress. I *think* it says "Pursue Warden-Commander somthingoranother...." and those could be Wardens there, but the video doesn't make it all that clear.

He use the line regardless of the choice you made in Awakening.

The one on this page  at around 2:25. You got to zoom in to see the quest objective of finding Warden-Commander Something and you can see the shades and what seems like warden archers (although they might not be "alive", see below).

There is a Adamante tag over the objective and this point toward the Adamante Fortress which was abandonned by the Wardens a long time ago (it was built and used for the 2nd blight) and was used "recently" (in Asunder, 9:40) to perform experiments on reversing the Rite of Tranquility by the Chantry. At the end of Asunder the place was overrun by demons.

I'm personally wondering why the Wardens are now interested in a demon overruns keep they abandonned centuries ago...

Ooohooohoohooho! Bioware pulling a Cerberus on the GW's sounds interesting...
