Just curious, I'll be playing the game for the first time on PS3 soon and am curious if there's still a decent playerbase so I can reliably jump into some MP.

It's becoming harder to find a game in platinum, especially a decent platinum pug, but the rest seems fine.

It is, and I've been able to find decent platinum pugs lately.
That said, we tend to have our groups of good players we prefer to do platinums with.

There's only like 7 people playing on PS3. Everyone else has moved on to PS4 playing KZSF or BF4.

I don't have any problem to find good gold PUG lobbies. For platinum I don't know I still have enough friends to play with at this difficulty.

Nope. We all do duos or full games with people from the chat. Or we don't play really at all on PS3 anymore. (Namely I don't really play on PS3 anymore.)
