I hope I'm not forced to choose Being made to choose sucked at the end of DA2. But if Pigeon holed again I would pick Templar.

If I was born a mage in Thedas I would want freedom, if I was born normal I would be a templar. In any case, you need a balance of power to avoid corruption. Complete freedom for mages would end with us normals as slaves. The templars are needed to some extent if you want normal people to have any rights

Both comprimise and reforms for everyone!!!

Here's hoping, or knowing since this will be an option, just like Quarian/Geth peace was an option.

However if it is not, I'll have to wait and see how each side present themselves in Inquisition before deciding. Kirkwall is not a good place to make a generalization of either side.

I would judge each mage or templar on who they are and how they treat others. It's their actions that I will judge. Every faction has good and bad people. To judge a whole group because of bad eggs isn't fair. Being forced to pick a group is something I hope they avoid in DA:I.

I have a feeling by the end of Inquisition, the Mage-Templar debate will have subsided.

This is my hope.  Nothing will bring two bickering groups together like a greater threat to both.

Million of existing mage-templar threads is not enough for you so you created another one?

I just know Not-Templars because DA2 made them all seem like wet paper bags at best, and ****s at worst.

@GnusmasTHX, DA2 made mages all seem like crazy bloody abomination-raisers who know no limit.

@Op, Templars, cuz they have cool and shiny armors! Plus they know how to deal with the minion of Chaos.

Agreed of hoping to not be forced to pick a side. If forced, it'd depend on how the two side are portrayed in DAI. Other than the red templars, we don't known anything about mages and templars in DAI.
I doubt howewer that the war is going to end with DAI though.

I will side with the mages, but not with blood mages and Tevinter magisters.

Good luck with finding non-blood mages in DA2!

I didn't get why bioware made every other mage in DA2 bats**t crazy, they wouldn't have had to if they made more reasonable and sane templars. or made the order more sane & also accountable for their actions. but even after most mages started going bloodmagic demon crazy, I still can't bring myself to support the templars. I guess i'll have to wait & see if the situation shifts before I pick a side or my character picks a side.

I'm going to try to be neutral in the DAI game, but I'll end up leaning more towards mages. While I don't support psycho mages who want to recreate Tevinter, I will support mage freedom.

The mages were crazy because of Meridith's oppression of every mage and the abuse many of them had to endure. That is why I never will side with Templars (unless the Mages are crazier).

Mages of course, they are superior to mundanes in every way. Mage supremacy ftw!

Who do you think you are? Judeo-Christian God? You gonna have some old dude gather 2 of every nug, bronto, and wyvern and pack them on a boat?

Neither. Both sides were train wrecks in DA2 with the mages winning the bat-poop crazy award for craziness due to practically all of them becoming abominations. Being able to put both in their place in DAI would be ideal.

We have to consider how mages are treated in other countries, especially the time before tevinter.

Societies that treat mages with respect and dignity don't have to worry too much of abominations and such.

Rivain has those traditional hedge witches and their circle seems more lax.

The elves are also a good example as well.

As far as I know the ancient peoples didn't have a problem controlling thier mages, for the most part.

It was the tevinters and eventually chantry that caused that fear

Mages can't stop being mages.
Templars can stop being Templars.

As simple as that.

Stop supplying lyrium and there. Templars are extinct without anyone dying.
