And I'm talking with no Rail Amps since you need
the strength enhancer for the melee build, and I also
can't use any gear since I'm using the Bat Glove, but
pretty much, what shotgun works best by itself for a
melee build?

Venom.

Venom or Graal.
Venom if you're using the Batarian Gauntlet.

Venom because of the push-back;stagger capabilities. Claymore or Wraith because, up close, they are devastating.

Claymore w/smart choke, omni blade, ap4/dr3 or venom with barrel, omni blade, disruptor/incendiary/maybe warp

Depends on the kit.
Melee caster's might like the wraith, since it's very light, reasonably accurate at mid-range without a smart-choke, and can carry an omni-blade without incurring the weight penalty.
Graals a good option if you want to add stagger stick to the mix, but it suffers off-host.
Venom's the ultimate stagger stick, but its heavy, and it's an UR, and it's can't carry the omni-blade for free.
Claymore and crusader are decent if your kit really doesn't care about cool-downs at all.

Like they said, depends on the kit. What kit? What tactics?

Claymore or Piranha off host
Venom or Crusader when hosting.
Doesn't matter much on the krentinel though.

I tried the Claymore on him, and my experience was pretty
much "this thing is lackluster without the smart-choke, but
does crap damage without the extended/high-velocity barrel."

For all my melee kits I use only 2 shotguns: GPS or Venom, because phantoms.

My choices generally are
GPS or venom for melee kits
GPS or graal for talon arrow build ( yes, the game considers it to be melee )
Wraith or claymore for shadow
Raider for turian novaguard
Any thing above for krentinel

Riader is my go to, when in doubt shotgun for melee builds (AIU, Huntress, Cabal) but I go wraith if I need to worry more about cooldowns (Shadow's duration cloak, BatSol BB spam, melee Human Adept, etc.).
Raider is incredibly inaccurate but 1) I'm kind of used to it and can still get a fair amount of headshots at midrange without smart choke because I'm weird and 2) each pellet does sooooo much damage that as long as the baddies are clumped up you'll probably kill a bunch of crap with it anyway. It's also susceptible to the no weight added bug and it performs better off host than on (4 shot raider anyone?).
I'm not great with Krogan melee but if you're going without incinerate, and therefore will be at midrange at most because of his lolgrenades, I'd say the Raider might work well for you.

It depends on how overpowered your melee build is by itself to determine which shotgun to use. If your using a batarian gauntlet that hinders mobility(which is pretty fun to use) i suggest using either the Venom or Raider. But if you want to use powers more but with strength enhancer IV's and Omniblade V's attached then you'd probably want a Katana or Disciple.

Venom with Incendiary rounds or Wraith with AP.

Venom with incendiary rounds on my krogan soldier/sentinel melee builds.
Wraith with high caliber barrel + armour piercing rounds on krogan vanguard.
I use a reegar with omniblade, high velocity barrel and incendiary rounds on the krogan warlord.

I can heartily recommend the crusader (heavy barrel / omni-blade) on a no-incinerate melee Krogan Sentinel, this setup has an answer for every situation.
Except maybe phantoms on higher difficulties, but for those one can always bring a secondary.

I haven't tried your build for this character so I will tell you about other melee builds that I use.
My melee platinum builds (melee build doesn't mean that I always take all melee evos in fitness tree; it only means that I melee with that character more than shoot):
Geth Juggernaut: http://kalence.drupa...!13556364!38CAG
Krogan Warlord: http://kalence.drupa...!34R56314!EA.EE
N7 Shadow: http://kalence.drupa...!24556314!0.9E9
I forgot to change the weapon's lvl but it doesn't matter.
For Juggernaut I prefer Venom because I stagger mooks with charged shot and then melee them. For bosses I use Hurricane more.
For Warlord and Shadow I prefer light shotguns like Wraith or Piranha.
