As per title,

I am starting the game in the upcoming hours. Any must-have fixpack/mod that I should install before beginning?

Thanks in advance!!

Other than patch 1.04 I can't think of any fixes in advance. Some quests have minor bugs and there are mod patches for them but I never ran into any that weren't fixed with reloading. If you run into any, check the wiki for a fix. If you have The Exiled Prince dlc you will probably get stuck in a loading screen during the quest Repentance. If this happens try hitting the esc button first.

I have so many mods installed I don't know where to start. There is a mod that levels you up faster and gives you 6 ability points to spend instead of 3 that I recommend highly and RogueLass has some awesome armor mods. Most of my mods are hairstyles and textures and you don't really need them to start and enjoy the game. You can find them on Dragon Age Nexus. Having said this, there's something to be said for playing the vanilla game the first time through.

Enjoy!

All right.. Thanks for the tips. I think I am going to play with 1.04 + a quest reward fix + VQ bugfix. That should be enough to enjoy the game without altering it!!

There are some armors on the Dragon Age Nexus that are gorgeous, not many, but a few.

And good luck in enjoying it, I am trying to, but it is hard to get past the dumbed down combat.

Basically the AI, both friendly and enemy is so bad that there is no use for any real tactics. There is mod for DA:O that adds more tactical options to the tactics menu, a great mod. Helps make the tactics and pause and play effect have a great impact in the game. It is a feature I sorely miss here, sure it has the tactics menu, but the AI is so bad that it doesn't matter.

Mind you the faster paced combat I do not mind at all, just the weak AI and the lack of ability to use any real tactics as a result.

I just got into the first minutes of gaming, and I think I like the atmosphere and overall graphics. Looks surely more action-oriented than DaO. I will see how I do confrontate with this supposed lackings in AI. The rogue fighting seems spectacular, though :o

I agree that the rogue fighting is OTT. I love it but others disagree. If you're enjoying your game you're doing it right.

Yes, I am actually enjoying the game. Did quite some quests 'till now. Recruited a bunch of buds to fight along
I found some locations really, really beautiful too (for example the interns of the Chantry).

P.S: I can't see any achievements for my player yet. Are they disabled or not working anymore?
