My male Shepard killed her because one of the main characters of my party was Kaidan.

Ashely's not racist. She didn't say that she sees aliens as no different than animals. She'd never been to the citadel, and had never seen most of those aliens. I wouldn't be able to tell if some of them were sentient until they started talking to me. And in her story about sacrificing your dog to escape a bear, the humans were the dog in that analogy. Anyway, out of my five playthroughs I either "killed" or "plan to kill Kaidan" 3 of those times. All my male playthroughs saved Ashley.

Not to mention, if the roles were reversed, and Saren came stumbling in saying Shepard destroyed the beacon, and he was trying to bring back the Reapers, how quickly do you think they would scramble to make sure he had an entire army behind him to go after Shepard?

I left Ashley on Virmire on my Renegade Sentinel character, who went to ME2 romance-less. Although to be fair to Ash, it was done mainly to ENSURE Dimitri was unattached for ME2 than any slight against her.

when my male shep killed ashley in ME1 and met up with Kaiden in ME2 the conversation was a little gay and funny.

As much as I like Ash- obviously, since she's my avatar- I have Virmired her with a male Shep who was romancing Liara and was a soldier himself. It wasn't personal- I just wanted to keep Kaidan in the party for additional biotic support. Sometimes I Virmire her with female Sheps who want to romance Kaidan and sleep with him. But I still think she's an awesome kickass gal.

Ashley died for both my FemSheps and my MaleShep. I dislike her character as a whole: the agressive, cocky female type doesn't do it for me at all; the xenophobia--notice I didn't say racism (even if she does have choice comments like "I can't tell the aliens from the animals")--is just icing on the cake: it's not aliens in general she should be distrustful of, it's the Alliance. But I also happen to think that leaving her on Virmire makes more sense storyline-wise. It's a great (if tragic) way for her to prove her worth to the Alliance.

Only on my most recent one. I was romancing Liara and want to see a Horizon with Kaidan (minus romance).

I did. I found Kaidan more useful for combat and looting, so Ashley had to die.

Every day I kill her fills my heart with joy. It's the punishment that she joins my crew against my will and forgets her place under my command. Especially the reciting poetry part, you can tell her it's boring but she dosn't give up, she keeps reciting, it does drive me mad.

Ashley was more useful in combat to me than Kaiden. And Kaiden has an L2 headache generator. So Kaiden got the boot everytime.

The one time I played a female I saved Kaiden. But the other 90% of the time I have been male, I kill Ashley off probably more often then not.
