Oh man, this guy. He has waves of armored men and mages, casts a bubble, telefarts around, and has a bomb spell. Against the waves of armor I can withstand a bit, but his spell bomb destroys my party's mojo. I try to move the entire party as soon as I see it appear, but it has a slowing effect and catches at least two of my party each time, usually Merril is one of them.
Why am I so stupid? IIRC, Dispel will stop Danzig's spell. But there are no points available for Hawke. Because I spent them all. I suppose I can go somewhere else and do another task to level more and get that point... I will try 6 more times. It's just that I didn't expect Danzig to be this strong, and winning this fight will level up 3 characters at once. And I can get Aveline's strength to 23 so she can finally use that awesome sword.
1. Vasectomy Hawke L6
Chain Lightning
Heal
Winter's Grasp
Stone Fist
Psychic Blast
Call Haggis ( Mabari )
2. Aveline ( has one ability point available )
Shield Defense Mode
Shield Bash
Immune to Flanking
3. Varrik ( has one ability point available )
Miasma Flask
Exploding Arrow
Pinning Shot
Speed Mode
120% on enemies engaged on someone else
4. Merril ( has one ability point available )
Walking Bomb ( USEFULL! )
Stone Fist
Horror ( Either she has it or Hawke )
Danzig: Hard

For a cheap solution, have Fenris in your party (and pick the appropriate conversation option). You won't have to fight Danzig at all (unless you want to).
Just FYI, most enemy mages in the game use these abilities.b4ld5h3ph4rd wrote...

If your Hawke is a mage then you can focus attacks on Danzig, this will allow you to dish out damage quick since you'd have 3 ranged fighters. Any abilities that will immobilise him will make it easier
Also is Hawke giving out vasectomies or was he the lucky recipient?

He hates kids and doesn't want to be a father because he believes that children are future criminals. I don't have Fenris yet, I assume from his name that he's that guy I let go earlier. Anyway, I just beat Hayder by running Merril and Varrick around in large circles in the Chantry. These two were all that was left of the group, and that was a LOT of running. All allies have 2 ability points to spend now and Hawke has Dispel.
Thanks guys!
So I'll go back to Danzig and... interrupt his spells. All I can do about the bubble is wait for it to stop, Danzig likes to teleport after being hurt for a few seconds. But being able to interrupt his spell bomb should be a big help.

If you're still having problems with Danzig, like frustratemyself said, try keeping him perpetually stun-locked by manually directing abilities at him from your entire party. So this could involve good old Vasectomy hitting him right at the start with a winter's grasp (potentially freezing him) and knocking him over with stonefist/mindblast, Aveline knocking him back with a shield bashing and ideally stunning him with a pommel strike, Varric pinning him and stunning him with a miasmic flask, and merrill casting horror on him and knocking him over with a stone fist. Almost all of these abilities should also disrupt his spell if he starts casting.
If you get your entire party to continuously keep him down, he won't have the chance to mess up your mojo. I suppose having a dispel as backup could also help. And since you don't have friendly-fire, just before Danzig dies try hitting him with a walking bomb. That should take care of most of the other enemies.
Good luck!

Good luck and have fun.
I second what mr_afk said with these additions. If you've got upgrades on shield bash and chain lightning you can bash him then zap him (when he's not in the bubble) for extra damage. If you call Haggis before you meet Danzig you'll have an extra damager to help you deal with the mob. Supposedly, it's possible to draw the whole mess up to Anders' clinic and have him join you as a free party member but I've never had any luck doing it. I think they lie. My party has always kept fighting while I ran on alone. I never tried Ctrl + A to send the whole party up to Anders, though.
If you actually told Fenris (the white-haired elf who set you up with the Tevinter slavers then had you clear out a Hightown mansion) his services wouldn't be required he is gone but if you just left him standing there you might be able to acquire him. I think he's very versatile in a fight.

Thanks guys. I must have been too low level / had weak equipment. Also, I'm an idiot. For no reason at all my brain assumed that I was locked in a small area when in fact I had all of Darktown to run around in. Suddenly, one level later Danzig was Dan-dead easily because it came down to 1 vs 4 by eliminating everyone else first.
