In DAO we could choose to be of high birth, but in DA2 we had to be a farmer from Lothering, basically the capital of peasants.

Sure we had some noble blood, but only matrilenially and from an impoverished line originating from a city-state, so we were for all intents and purposes peasants.

So, in DA:I, since we wont get to chose our backgrounds, will we be forced to be some peasant?
I'd hate that, because in addition to me not wanted to be a peasant, a random farmor would be a terrible choice to lead an inquisition.

I'd settle for being a soldier, or a well-to-do criminal, but I'd prefer to be nobility, I don't even have to be important nobility.

Given that you can be a Qunari, I'd doubt noble blood is a given. Qunari don't even have lineage. Or nobility. Or family, for that matter.

Just for clarification, I'm talking about humans and dwarves only.

I think it's a given that the other races wont be nobles.

Hawke may have been raised on a farm, but they still acted very posh and snooty.

I want an urban middle class background, because it seems like fantasy never ever does urban middle class backgrounds. You're a noble or a farmer or a thief. Usually a farmer or a thief who is actually noble.

Well, the Mage background will be different than the non-Mage background, so perhaps there will be both for humans or even different levels, like middle class.

As for Dwarf, you are a surface Dwarf so are casteless, but perhaps since we were already Dwarf noble and Dwarf Casteless in Origins, perhaps Inquisitor Dwarf comes from the Dwarven middle class, like Warrior Caste.

I think Inky is going to be of humble origins but it's not where you start, it's where you finish and what you do along the way. You're described as a sole survivor so I don't think the inquisition will have a choice about you. And it's the choices you make that determines your following, not whether you were born noble or not.

As Fast Jimmy pointed out, playable races are going to figure in here too. An elf isn't going to have much status nor is a surface dwarf and qunari would consider the concept alien.

Oh that's right, the backgrounds were scrapped in favour of more reactivity according to class and race yes?

Well if we do have to be a peasant, I hope we are a filthy one. Filthy peasants are the best kind of peasants.

I didn't care too much for hawke's background, just have a problem with the fact that while my warden was risking his life to fight the blight Hawke was running away from it. I have to say after playing DA:O several times under several characters I am ashamed to play as a Hawke. I feel like a coward. I did not contribute to protect my country instead I ran away from it.

I don't want to play as a character with a filthy coward background like Hawke.

Well, from what we have been told so far the Inquisitor is definately more a Warden than a Hawke character. Sole survivor of a Veil Tear, or at least that's what I got out of it, leading the groups to order to seal them again.

It's the smart thing to do when you have all of your nobles going into a civil war instead of lining up together to fight back the darkspawn.  Really, the Warden was just lucky that this blight was crap compared to the previous blights, otherwise he would have been screwed.

I wouldn't call hawke a coward, they were at ostagar along with carver & left to avoid getting killed when the darkspawn took lothering.

I restricted myself from reading and watching anymore spoilers from the incoming game so I don't know anything about the history of our Inquisitor, however how can he/she be a sole survivor of the veil tear? That must be a mistake.

What did Hawke, Bethany and Carver do to protect their home country against the blight? From what I got out of playing DA2 they deserted their country.
