I've been a long time BioWare fan and a long time RPG fan, Western RPGs first piqued my interest with the first Baldur's Gate, all thru middle school and most high school I played JRPGs but in my Senior year I worked with a guy that got me into Baldur's Gate, since then I have been a BioWare fan, liked the high fantasy but always pined for something sci fi... then KOTOR, it blended the high fantasy with sci fi but I still pined for that true sci fi experience, I first heard of Mass Effect on G4... the rest is history...

Yeah on xplay in 2007 i saw the trailer for it about a month before the game came out, and now its my most favorite game of all time, i new nothing about it when i started playing too... i think thats why i fell inlove with it, not knowing anything about it while playing. Well im even more excited for me 2 and think knowing too much about the game ruins the not knowing but Knowing is half the battle and i will be ready for the reapers, No One Dies under my COMMAND, except kaidenPosted Image, and those that are scripted like (spoilers) pressley...

Saw ME trailers on television and thought the game seemed interesting. Shame I did not own a 360 at the time.

Bought a 360 last February and visited Gamestop the same day. The associate there recommended ME and have been hooked ever since.

Prior to ME, previous Bioware experiences were KOtOR and JE.

I played Jade Empire. Noticed they also made Kotor, both of which i adored, so I somehow ended up on the site, and they were flaunting a trailer for ME (the launh trailer, I believe). This was back when the ME site was white and painful to look at for long.

I was at a friends house and he was saying how great it was. So when he went out for a bit I jumped on his computer to try it out. I bought a couple days later.

A trailer on Gametrailers.com. Back when it was just for 360. Almost made me buy one too, if it hadn't been for the red ring of death. I could have kissed Bioware, when they announced they were going to port it to PC. ;)

I saw the preview in GameInformer, and I thought it looked awesome. Then I saw that it was being developed by BioWare, and then I thought, "that's why it's bad ass, these are the folks who gave me KoTOR and Jade Empire!"  Played it, loved it, can't wait for ME2 and 3!

I'd heard about it very vaguely after it had come out, and read a small review from PC gamer saying it was was good. Then randomly a friend brought it over to try out and I was blown away. An advantage ME1 will always have over ME2 is that I had absolutely no expectations for it: I barely even knew it existed.

I just walked to the shop, and picked it because I liked its cover. I ended up buying pure gold! :)

I actually found out about it when I went to visit the family during this last holiday break and looked through their games. It looked interesting, so I borrowed it, and I have been in love with it since.

Although I am a massive BioWare fanboi, and have played every game since BG2, I actually only found out about ME via the bonus content on the disc for Jade Empire SE for PC. Did NOBODY else see the trailer for Mass Effect on that disc?

Heard good things of it around the release date, but was never really interested in picking it up.
I bought it at the Steam Holiday Sale a month ago and now I'm soo excited that I ordered the CE of ME2! :o

True. For a lot of us ME1 was a big happy surprise. ME2 and 3 will have to be good enough in every way for us to like just as much, which I have no doubt tho.

I've played and finished every single Bioware game since Baldur's Gate, except for the Sonic RPG since I don't have a DS. Some of them I even bought multiple versions (Jade Empire, Mass Effect). So I'm generally relatively informed of their projects once they are announced.

I remember seeing an article on Mass Effect on GameInformer, read the article and wasn't very interested. A year later or so I saw it on sale and since I hadn't been able to find anything else I liked to play as of late I decided to pick it up.

Best decision ever, one of my favorite games of all time.

A friend of mine got the game for Christmas, and I saw it was Bioware, who had made KOTOR, so he let me try it. It's the main reason I bought a 360, in fact.

I played it at a friends house and honestly I hated it didn't understand the controls and got frustrated with it and stoped playing it.

Then I read about it online and what you could do while ingame and thought ok thats kinda cool so I bought played as a vanguard and once I started couldn't stop playing and only stoped three level 60's and all the acheivments later.

I remember watching E3 '06 and seeing a bad ass guy pointing a gun at some alien bartenders head. From that moment i knew this game was for me.
