Why kind of other Demons could exist?

There are a lot of 'negative' emotions. A demon of 'miss you', maybe?

So a demon who sings ''All by Myself'' in the rain and looks depressing?

Still a demon who causes suicides in large scale could be troublesome.

A Demon of Grief!

Wouldn't that just be the same as sloth?

Depression Demon. Very powerful.

Could imagine an interesting situation trying to convince someone in its clutches to find hope and the heart to break free. Could make for a very emotive and uplifting scene if written well.

Demons are based off deadly sins, right?

Why isn't there a demon of talking too loud in the theater? Or a demon of people who don't flush public toilets?

A demon of stupidity, pehaps?
You save people from its clutches by.... By...
Wait, no, it would be too powerful an enemy.
Jokes aside I must say I like the idea of a demon of depression. It could finally introduce some really touching moments, if done well.
Still if a demon of depression really existed I'd wager Hawke would be a victim, given the tendency of his family to die when people sneeze too violently in their proximity and the tendency of his friends to go bonkers.

A demon who PISSES ON THE SEAT!
Drives real slow on the ultra fast lane!
Has a 1967 Cadillac, El Dorado convertible
Hot pink with whaleskin hub caps and all leather cow interior
And big brown baby seal eyes for headlights, yeah!
And is gonna drive around in that baby at 115 mph!
And throw his trash right out the side!

I'm holding out for a demon of party. Some sort of jager bomb demon. The shameless demon of whisky shots and regrettable decisions.

And an honourable mention to the super happy fun dance demon of unicorn glitter and puppy hugs.

Isn't there a demon of guilt/regret yet? And what about a demon of jealousy? I avoid guilt and jealousy like the plague because it's one of the worst feeling/thing that I can have IMO.

I figure the major one in DAI will be a demon of fear.

The Fear of mages by the general populace, templars and even Qunari
The Fear of death/Rite of tranquility by the mages
The Fear of losing yourself to the taint by the grey wardens
The Fear of the unknown/what lies beyond the veil by everyone
The Fear of War between every major faction in Thedas by everyone

That there is a whole lot of nourishment all at once.

You approach the man cautiously, wary of the fade and its deceptions, its denizens, wary of the demon you know reigns here. Entering the room you all fan out, Varric remaining at the door to guard against approach. But there is nothing else there. No furnishings, no obstacles to overcome, no demon. Just one man huddled in on himself, quietly rocking back and forth on the hard floor of an empty, small room. You look at each other, wondering what to make of this. After a time the man notices your presence and raises dull, vacant eyes, with a head bowed as if under immense weight. They are uncomfortable eyes to look into. He doesn’t speak, just looks at you, through you, as if you are barely there.

     1) Are you Daniel? We’ve come to find you, to rescue you.

     2) Damn, you look like you could use a hug.

     3) Daniel? Get up, we’re leaving before the demon gets here. You can either walk or we’ll drag you.

The man says nothing for quite some time, just stares at you with those haunted, haunting eyes.

Varric: I guess this one doesn’t need guarding, hey Inquistor.

The man blinks as if recalling something. Just as you are about to speak again he stirs, straining against his dusty vocal chords with a faint, broken voice.

Daniel: Don’t bother, there’s no point... get out of here, while you still can ... if you can.

     1) That’s not going to happen. We’ve come a long way to find you, fought through hordes of spirits and demons.               Ionna asked us to find you if we could, and bring you back home.

     2) Hey, sounding a little dry there, want a shot of whisky?

     3) No, you’re coming with us, one way or another. I want the XP.

And so on...

Well a desire demon may turn your fantasy against you, We have seen a few examples of this throughout the game.

A dream turned bad creating your moment of despair.
So I would say despair being akin to depression and sadness that a "sadness" or despair demon is in reality is a desire demon turning their victims whims.

Don't really need those.
It trivializes grief/sadness which is a real life emotion worth feeling empathy for.
Go to some of the grief and loss forums, for people who have lost loved ones OP and you'll see.
Evil demons I can accept but this is a bad idea imo.

I heard somewhere (maybe from Gaider) that there might be new demons, among them Despair. so, close enough?

Yep. I believe he also mentioned that demons of fear, envy and remorse exist as well.

Wow, if those beings will really appear in the game I hope they will be portrayed as a whole different kind of enemy, one not fought in the usual "stab them until they die" way!
Tricky subject to touch.

I'm glad they're adding new demons. It was awkward reading that sloth demons were also demons of envy, somehow, in the codex. Bioware just didn't want more than five in origins.

Demon of depression then? I can dig that.

Zazzerka wrote...

It works both ways.

I can imagine it wouldn't be that dangerous though unless it attempted to inflict depression (and later suicide) onto you and your companions though. Otherwise it'll simply be condemning its own existence.

"Just leave me alone human."

"Kill me then human. I don't care."

"It's all pointless."

Awesome. I thought I had heard there would be new demons but I didn't know/couldn't remember if any types had been mentioned. Despair Demon sounds much better too. Fear, Envy and Remorse are also very fertile themes.

Lol @Elton John is Dead - That is just great :D

Hmm, I can't recall. Does anyone else more up on the lore know if demons are actually able to succumb to their own nature, or other demons? Would make for an interesting fade encounter.

Procrastination demon causes the Inquisitor to put off all quests in favor of redecorating the Keep and picking up worthless hobbies. The world will burn.

The demon of Fetch Quests shall send our hero to collect 20 bear asses from the middle of absolutely nowhere and the world shall then burn as the Inquisition is lost in some mountain killing bears for their asses.

A voice echoes throughout the whole game

"At this very moment, Orlais burns"
"At this very moment, Ferelden burns"
"At this very moment, Tevinter burns"
"At this very moment, Antiva burns"
"At this very moment, ParVollen burns"
"At this very moment, Kirkwall burns"
"At this very moment, Starkhaven burns"
"At this very moment, Rivain burns"
