Demons of sadness?

In the end demons feed on the life force of people, so they'll end up dying in the end.
With the world in turmoil and the chantry being so weak/disbanded then perhaps people will and up losing faith and fall into despair?
I am probably wrong, but I always thought that the pride demon that showed up in dawn of the seeker was a greater pride demon.
If a presence of one can "cause" turmoil to the world then it sure was close had it not been for plot

His major emotion is fear and despire and his is attracted to any one if great despire, to the point they want to die.eluvianix wrote...
I don't believe Cole can be distilled into a single emotion like emotion or despair, because he embodies many different emotions and traits. He seems to be a whole new breed of spirit unlike any we have ever seen before.leaguer of one wrote...
You know we did see a spirit that was attracted to any person who was in despair who wouth then kill them, so....eluvianix wrote...

A greater pride demon compares how to a despair demon?
That is the question.
Considering we only have two or three sentences that reference them in a codex entry, we have no idea what a greater pride demon is capable of, or if they even really exist. But it also depends on the complexity of the pride or despair that either demon represents. Despair could be just as powerful as pride.
(Also, you can say it was an act out of Mercy.)
He clearly is a despair demon. He also may become a spirit of Mercy. (Like how Justice became a demon of vengence.)

Then why in the world did he comfort the original Cole in his last moments? That seems completely anathema to every demon encountered thus far.leaguer of one wrote...
Everything he does is what a demon would do. He lives on the emotional and life energy of being of this plain... Like all demons do.
He is attracted to a spacific negative emotion, like all demons do.
He also uses blood magic, which all demons no how to use.
He even can take the images of mortals and their memories , like hunger demons.
So if it walks, talks, and looks like a duck...

Explain why he feed off those people in despair if he is not a demon?

It will eventually try to steal your car?
What is Cole exactly anyway?
I know he can turn invisible but can he also turn intangible and teleport?
Does he have a substantial body or presence in Thedas?
Or is the general rule of thumb that when a demon manages to take over a body it's theirs and they have an anchor in Thedas after that?

Not really. Only ones I can truley think that were whiny emos were Fenris and Anders aside from that everyone else was fine in my book. Zevran was depressed but he wasn't annoying about it.

2. He is a being from the plane of the fade, aka a spirit. Whether he is a benevolent or malevolent spirit is a toss up.

Added, no one is more depressed then the dalish elf who romances Alistar and didn't do the dark ruitual and took Alstar with her to the final battle.
