Realizing life was vanity.

What profit has a man from all his labor.
In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes.

All things are full of labor.
Man cannot express it.
The eye is not satisfied with seeing.
Nor the ear filled with hearing.
That which has been is what will be.
That which is done is what will be done.
And there is nothing new under the sun.
.Is there anything of which it may be said.
“See, this is new”?
It has already been in ancient times before us.
There is no remembrance of former things.
Nor will there be any remembrance of things that are to come
By those who will come after.

~Ecclesiastes

Sums it up perfectly really.

All that's left is to be good and enjoy the short pathetic time you have on this god-forsaken planet.

Oh and happy new year everyone!!

As of now, finishing the last semester and being 2/3 done.

5 months from now, graduating, passing the boards, and getting a job.

I'm aiming for strong ego integrity here.

When I wrote a Research about "Orthodox Christianity" back in mid 00s, based on some real sources (books) and the internet. Back in those days I had a good amount of popularity until 3 terms later...

When I actually read 4 books about History of Mongols in western Asia.

(Finally I screwed up the whole degree by getting the average score: C ... thanks wikipedia for enlightening me. I would be a B if my memory wasn't that bad) {edit:} Hopefully I'm B in some of countries grading (Like Japan and Iran). I'm "Good"!

Beating my cousins in Badminton!

I was actually a good goalkeeper in (mini-)soccer when I was 10-12. Still have the talent...

Thus far, the proudest moment of my life is when I Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant of Military Intelligence into the United States Army. December 15, 2011 was when I accepted the Oath of Office.

I plan to have many more proud moments.

This is a great topic to start the new year! I really like the above comments, congratulations on your successes. It takes a lot of perseverance to earn those achievements. I'd say my proudest moments are:

1) Earning a degree in a foreign country.
2) Learning martial arts (I'm quite introverted and afraid of physical contact).
3) Having some written works published.

The happiest moment in my life was when I learnt what it's like to be truly free. I was sitting by the river on a hot summer day. I fell asleep under the sun feeling absolutely content. I've never been able to do that in my home country. =)

Wow I'm SOOO SCAAAARED of your martial arts! jk lol
Actually these are my goals too. Whenever I find some progress in my fighting skills I really find the sense of pride (beware of pride demon!)...
And two years ago when I was actually gathering info and contents for my non-novel book I was at my best mentally.

Wouldnt know or remember. Never been good at giving myself too much credit over things that actually matter. That's what Ive been told anyway.

Could be the time when I was four, got my hands on some pretty flowers and gave them to a much older gal, who I fancied, and she happily took them. :P

Writing a 12 page paper on the creation of synthetic life (oddly enough, before I heard about Mass Effect), and a 14 page one on space megastructures.

I feel like writing them again though, I got a calculation or two wrong, and I'm sure I could make them both at least 20 pages now.

Congratulations to those who aren't trolling.

I kind of keep a very short time frame for remembering or it becomes overwhelming.

My proudest moment in the past year was when my daughter had two vocal solos in the midnight Christmas eve service.

Congratulations, KikoChuN7.  I take my freedom for granted and I'm glad you found yours.  I can't even begin to understand the bliss that must have felt like.
