Its a useful school of magic and anyone not using is stupid and the main reason all southern based mages are weak and fail at life.

I would pick a Southern mage over a Tevinter one any day of the week.

I wouldn't tevinter been studying blood magic for centuries and proficient in most schools of magic and and a normal level mage from tevinter would destroy any normal level mage from the south mabye even a group of them

Nonetheless, our mage characters can techincally become some of the best spellslingers in Thedas, blood magic or no.

Yes, because morality is the only thing that drives people away.

I'd rather specialize in the spirit school of magic combat, so much more versatility against normals and mages alike. Blood magic is just overblown entrophy school spells anyway, no match for a mage truly skilled in the arts of the arcane.

I don't think mana clash would actually work the way it does in-game

Templars can nullify every school of magic except blood magic.

blood magic > spirit magic

If you can control it and not let it control you (Become mad with power) I say go for it with any type of magic.

They can actually nullify blood magic (see Asunder), but it is just much harder to pull off.

Evangeline held it back momentarily in that assassination attempt on the Divine.

Neither can the mages when the demons turn on them.

Don't you think magisters would know mana clash to?

It's not a retcon. It's just hard as hell to negate blood magic.

Considering they never use it or many other spells from the spirit branch of magic, in game or in other sources, i'm going to go ahead and say no.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it was considered a forbidden art in tevinter, seeing how effective it is against other mages.

Funnily enough, I specifically remember a blood mage from DA:O who was a bad target for mana clash, because doing so would make him switch to blood magic, and then use Blood Wound to disable or wipe your entire party.

I wonder... Templars like intake lyrium, and develop magic abilities, and lyrium is a magic substance that replenishes mage mana.
What if Templars are filling themselves up with mana, that they have no natural way to produce, in order to cast their spells.
Can I mana-clash a templar to remove their abilities?
