You don't need Lyrium to develop Templar abilities.

Lyrium just makes the abilities stronger and keeps the Templars on the Chantry's leash.

I'll be against blood magic even playing as a mage, and I want the option for my mage to look at any mage using blood magic, look at them like they're fools, and then facepalm at them whenever he can at how stupid they were to use it.

Its a useful school of magic and anyone not using is stupid and the main reason all southern based mages are weak and fail at life.

I would pick a Southern mage over a Tevinter one any day of the week.

I wouldn't tevinter been studying blood magic for centuries and proficient in most schools of magic and and a normal level mage from tevinter would destroy any normal level mage from the south mabye even a group of them

>Powerful mage from tevinter.
>Able to be one-hit-killed by a mana clash.

I'm sorry, you were saying something about tevinter destroying southern mages

I don't think mana clash would actually work the way it does in-game

>Arguing about dragon age and magic in the setting.
>Discounts evidence that conflicts with their view from in game sources.

Of course you do.

Don't you think magisters would know mana clash to?

Considering they never use it or many other spells from the spirit branch of magic, in game or in other sources, i'm going to go ahead and say no.

In fact I wouldn't be surprised if it was considered a forbidden art in tevinter, seeing how effective it is against other mages.

Spirit magic being forbidden in Tevinter would be pretty funny especially if everyone is casting blood magic spells then there is that one guy who accidentally cast spirit bolt and sends the other magister in a panic lol.

I once managed to use blood wound on him at the same time he used it on me and the result was us both dying.

I'm pro mage and anti blood magic. I find it to be completely vile however from a non role play/personal belief view it really is just a game play mechanic though I have never used it myself.

So does that mean Alistair is now required to use lyrium for his templar ability's?

Supposedly his dragon blood keeps him from needing to, and is why he never suffered from the withdrawal effects or needed to keep consuming it.

Yes, he now has started retaking lyrium to use his powers.

Well, since bioware sent him down the path of special snowflake.  They might as well go all the way.

No he didn't. He encountered a lost place filled with sleeping dragons and dormant dragon eggs, but he didn't actually kill any high dragons.

Obviously her mother died around Alistair's birth and it was taken advantage of. A rather convenient coincidence.

Pretty much this. They saw that the servant who died could serve as one last thing posthostumously: a cover for Alistair's origins.

I wonder how that conversation would have gone?

Maric: Well, Fiona wants me to have our son believe his mom was a human who passed away. I wonder what I should do?

Eamon: Well, I had a maid of mine pass away last week. It was very sad. However, we can always say he was her son.

Maric: Great idea, Eamon! Let's do that.

Alright, you can want that route. I was trying to avoid murdering an innocent person, especially considering Eamon and Marik didn't seem the sort to do so to me, but hey to each their own.
