Does anyone think the M-11 Suppressor in ME3: Citadel is awful?

Isn't the weapon supposed to suppress fire? I had more luck using biotics on a merc without them noticing. It makes those beginning sections excruitating because the weapon is so bad. Does anyone else have this problem?

If the tooltip really says that then I don't know what to say...perhaps it's another case of "we were going to do it, but gave up after starting and didn't bother removing the tooltip"?
The M-11's real strength lies in it's headshot multiplier which I believe is 4x along with it's really fast rate of fire compared to the slow Carnifex and excruciatingly slow Paladin. I loved it on my soldier Shep, jump into a room of mooks, go into adrenaline rush and take the time to pop each mook in the brain with single shots.

Having said that, I do, however, use it as a main weapon with a scope on my melee Sentinel for those times when he can't quite melee.

And not everyone wants to always use a sniper rifle or just tech/biotics. Variety is the spice of life.ImaginaryMatter wrote...

This is precisely why it rules. Even on Insanity if you're landing headshots then you can murder people.cap and gown wrote...
Too many people here must be confusing the MP Suppressor with the SP version. The SP version not only has the crazy headshot multiplier, but its raw damage is around 400 PER SHOT. That is 2400 per 6 round clip, 4000 with an extended clip. 5700 with a heavy barrel and extended clip which you can fire in about 2 seconds. And that is before you factor in the 4x headshot multiplier.

Oh, most certainly. I switch it up a few times on my Engineer and Adept Shepards. But in those cases I usually use sniper rifles or shotguns because they look cooler when chilling on Shepard's back; or the pistol slot is taken up by the Talon.

My god, you are talking about one of the most powerful weapons in single player! Suppressor I = 383 damage. Suppressor X = 412 damage. Put a heavy barrel on it you can get up to 576 damage per shot. And you can rip off a full clip in under 2 seconds. I get to Citadel as fast as possible just so I can get that gun!
The damage is effective, but often my aim is just awful and I don't go for the head as my aim is very very poor. The fact the weapon was designed and marketed to be stealthy, it says so in the game to use it this way and then it just doesn't do it is appalling. Don't say that crap if it isn't. I mean, the DLC is awesome besides the very beginning, especially since I am an Adept and built for armour, not shields (as I often use Garrus' overlord but alas, no Garrus at the very beginning of the DLC).

I don't bother aiming for the head either. Center of Mass, always. As far as stealth, let's face it, there is no real stealth mechanics in the ME series unless you include cloak, and even then they can hear you if you are alone. (I tried cloaking and running past them but they heard me and shot me to pieces.)

Even classes with shield stripping will be challenged because your cool down times stink during that solo part. I played it as a Sentinel and could not zap them fast enough to keep their shields from regening before I could kill them. My solution was to chose Dominate as my bonus power so they would have someone else to focus on besides me. Dominate should work well for an Adept.

I managed to shoot a mercenary in the head during the Citadel DLC without alerting everyone else. It was a one shot hit.

The weapon was made for stealth. It is silent and you can one hit kill headshot, well 2 on Insanity I think. (Though to be fair, I probably had an easier time getting those headshots with a keyboard/mouse) The problem was that the level design didn't really allow stealth to be as viable as it was meant to be. I think I had to bump it down to Hardcore my first time through Citadel.
It is a very good gun, and I used in on Insanity with quite a few playthroughs.

I think the suppressor on the gun is more just for show really, I doubt BioWare programmed any real stealth elements in. I rather think that during a heated firefight the enemy will notice/shift fire less and less with the M-11 being used as opposed to other weapons but that's just a theory.
There actually is something in the coding that allows it to draw less aggro in multiplayer, but given the nature of most of the single-player combat, even if it's still there it doesn't seem to be that noticable (plus Shepard is the only PC in the room, and the aggro thing doesn't work if there's only one player).

Maybe it was just me, but I heads shot one guy and then they all found me.
I don't know about you, but I would DEFINITELY notice if someone's HEAD exploded in the patrol that I was taking part in that was ACTIVELY looking for someone. Stealthy doesn't translate into a "stupid bomb" getting dropped on your opponents.
Just saying.
