 By real, I mean not the typical "He's emo" or "He's an anime character" reason.

The reason why I hate him is because he's so ungrateful to Pro-mage Hawke! I understand he was a slave once, that's why I didn't mind his bigotry towards Mages for Act 1 and Act 2. However, after seven years of Hawke, Bethany, Anders, and Merill healing him AND protecting him from Slavers, he still had his paranoria that all Mages are evil?! And worst, he had the nerve to say "Why are you protecting them, I'll never understand"......MY SISTER'S A MAGE and you people are trying to kill her! His ignorance was too much for me to take.

He stole my white hair shtick. White hair doesn't even look good on him! It goes better with darker skin tones, not to mention he has BLACK eyebrows! That means his hair is dyed!

Because he was a major douche to all mages and to people who sided with mages.

I don't endorse guys who basically go around doing the five-point-heart-exploding-palm-technique in situations that could have been resolved through a quiet chat.

Going crazy and killing everything comes AFTER my A-OK.

A party member going against this simple rule in an RPG will either get kicked out the party or straight up killed the next chance I get.

I didn't hate the character. He just seemed really out of place in Dragon Age, like a character that got lost on his way to Final Fantasy 27.

Or, maybe its more accurate to say that he felt really out of place in the world that had been introduced in DA:O. I guess he was right at home in DA2. And that was part of the reason why I didn't care for that game.

And to add to what Fosh said, Anders doesn't try to understand mages and just hates them because he's from Tevinter. He doesn't try to learn about Ferelden mages, Free Marcher mages, Orlesian mages, etc.

As a special note for you, anybody's hate stemming from anything IS a real reason. People can hate him because his feet look weird, and it will still be legitimate hatred.

Not that this really matters, but I found him incredibly annoying. The broody assh*les who sit in the corner and **** about everything, being nasty to everybody, with good reason or not, is not the type of person I like to be around. Having one of those in the group is fine, but we already had some of that with Carver and a whole lot of that with the psycho abomination. ugh.
