This month's challenge is "Chronicles of Krynn":

A challenge focused on the Dragonlance universe. That could include: Creatures uniques from Krynn, like draconians, gully dwarfs or rideable dragons (even when I understand that this last would be hard to made). Clothes and/or armors based on the official DL art, like the great work made by Lisa. A great addition could be the dragonlord armor.... Kender heads for halfings, solanic knight heads with their typical moustache; or any head base on the official DL art, again like Lisa.... Mythic weapons of Krynn, like the dragolances itself, short and large versions; The hammer of Karas, etc.... Dragon orbs, with scripts, for attract dragons and with a will save needed to use it...

This theme was suggested by Shemsu-Heru.

Guidelines:
  • It must be fully working in game.
  • Use of vanilla NWN or publicly available texture is fine. Just remember that NWN textures must have dimensions in powers of 2 (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc.).
  • Teamwork is welcome.
  • Beginners most welcome. Don't be afraid, just try, you'll be surprised!
  • "Custom Content" includes many sorts of things: models, scripts, prefabs (areas, items, creatures, conversations, quests, etc.), sounds, portraits, or anything else new for the game.
  • All submissions must be finished, working, and emailed to NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com (or a non-Vault link provided) by February 1st, 2014. Sooner than that is perfectly fine too. ;-)

Somethings you could include in the download/email that would make packaging everything up easier and faster:
  • 2da lines needed.
  • Screenshot from in game for use on the vault page (this also gives me hints on how to display the new goodie). Formats: .bmp, .jpg, .png, or .tga
  • Portraits (if needed) of your new goodie. Placeables and monsters should include a portrait.
  • Inventory icons (if needed) of your new goodie.
  • Any credits you would like listed.
  • If this is your first entry, please tell me what name you would like your work listed under and provide a link to your other NWN content if you want that displayed as well (the link bit is totally optional).
  • Also if you would like an invite to the CC Makers group, send Rolo Kipp a friend invite. The group is nothing spectacular, mostly just documentation on 2da lines.
  • If you are doing tileset content, *please* let me know ahead of time so I can get you the set and itp files to work with. I’m horrible at merging those so this bit you will need to provide.

Remember, the Challenge is all about fun, sharing, creativity, and surprise!

This thread is for all sorts of discussion about this month's theme: ideas for things to make, questions/concerns, announcement of what you intend to make, screenshots of work in progress and/or finished projects.

If you want to discuss the Monthly Custom Content Challenge idea as a whole or wish to submit ideas/themes for future monthly Challenges, please post in its thread here.
When submitting a new theme, please provide a title and short summary of the theme.

If you have a technical question about some custom content creation, please create a separate thread so that the answers can be found later by anyone, not just people interested in this Challenge. We'll try to help!

Have no fear and join the fun!

And finally, you can:

Submit theme suggestions.
Vote for February's theme.
Email content to: NWNCCCMakers@gmail.com

ill be participating as well. i plan on remaking my old Castle Solanius:

nwvault.ign.com/View.php

after trying to update it, i had the misfortune of losing it :pinched: and lost all the files to it as well

I owe it to myself and everyone who wanted to use it. And I will be using CEP 2.4 to complete the project

I voted for this because I want some krynnish gnomes and also a full kender or two and not just heads. Also don't forget the Hoopak (I think that's how it's spelt). To be more explicit I would really appreciate some tinker gnomes complete with aprons and spectacles if possible please.

I have seen hoopaks in the vault, as slings and as clubes, Unfortunately I can't remember where they were.

There doesn't appear to be anything like the wide variety of interesting Creatures in this Krynn place as there were for Athas...
However, this is probably just as well or I'd start trying to fabricate entire bloody ecosystems like last month.

This time, instead of hordes of different Creatures, I'm going to focus on just one and get it finished and polished properly. I already did the Dray last time round, so don't feel very inspired to tackle more HalfDragon-esque things and NWN seems to have Dragons, clichéd as the poor things are, coming out of its armpits already so I see little reason to grapple Dragons at the moment.

Thus, I'm going to examine the possibilities of the Disir Creatures mentioned on the inspiration thread - There seem to be at least two mutational varieties and they look the sort of grotty, nasty, Spleen-shaped things that infest my Demoness Tales Modules so I'm sure I'll find them useful.

So, I'm now going to go off and try to look up everything I can concerning them so as to have some idea of their habits and so forth before I commence hitting them with a brick.

Awesome! You always make great creatures! :)

What about a Krynn's night Sky-box with the gods' constellations and or the 3 moons, or 2, because it's said that Nuritari only can be apreciated when it eclipses another astral body.

Alright! Great! How fitting! I'm with you.

I just finished to port and finalize some models of PDubulous' NWN2-Dragonlance Pack #1 for the Dragonlance server project I'm involved in.
PDubulous NWN2-Dragonlance Pack #1:

A selection of what I have:

... a rock that looks like two praying hands from afar...

I'd like to give them to the CCC, if it's ok.

I remember so many fine screens back then, when the DLA-page was still up. There were Solace models to be seen (walkways, treehouses, ...). Is there still a former DLA-member around - or someone, who knows an ex-member? I wonder, if there is a way to get a hand on those creations (I mean, it's been a while since that project was layed to rest). Wouldn't it be great to have them for this CCC, so they don't get totally lost?

Also there is the Inn of Borden Ha'elven:
http://nwvault.ign.c....Detail&id=8158
Maybe it should be included, too?

I know, that "The Tomb of Huma", "Dargaard Keep" (and some more) have been created (tilesets), but not by me. I'll try to get the permission to have them in this pack.

It's quite fitting, this month's challenge for the CC Makers, because it's the 30th Anniversary of Dragonlance.

Maybe the poll was fixed? *grins*

Pretty sure all of the old DLA stuff is lost by this point. What survived got turned into the TNO Tileset

Thanks for that second link, Bluebomber4evr, I hadn't found that one...

It appears that there ARE a couple of other interesting creatures on the list and...

NO! Must not look at lists, must not look at lists... Just do one Creature, just do one...

Currently working on other stuff, but plan to do a True Disir, a Tyin and a Disir Queen (despite there being no apparent image of the latter). However, as the information suggests there's virtually no sexual dimorphism, it shouldn't be too hard to just put a little imagination into some nasty, grotesque, rubbery thing.

Shem, may try a Skybox again if I can find enough images to really get an idea of what it should look like.

PS:- Those walkways and treehouses in the DLA screenshots are almost exactly what I wanted, barring a few texture changes, for something I've been planning for a while. Are those Tilesets available anywhere? I don't recall ever seeing them on the Vault.

Lesser dragonlances (spear models); greater dragonlances (lance models).

Image IPB

Image IPB

The mythic weapons which have named the camping. Dragonlances are Blessed artifacts, with the only purpose of kill dragons. Another two blessed artifacts are needed to create dragonlances, the Hammer of Kharas and the Silver Arm of Ergoth. If only one of the artifacts is used, it produces a lesser dragonlance, but with both of them a greater dragonlace is produced.

@PHOD, Thanks a Krynn's sky would be great, but I understand that could be a little complicate...

Any links to artwork that show the sort of sky (even just in the background) you had in mind would help!

From the image above, I gather there's a white moon and a red moon - plus a black moon which would likely be pretty much invisible other than the fact that it would blot out the stars behind it.
I could stick all three in syzygy, I suppose, Dark Crystal fashion, but that would look a bit strange and such a celestial arrangement wouldn't be likely to last more than a couple of hours. Not perhaps the best thing to paste all over a permanent skybox.
Specific constellations could be put in, though without the astrological symbols and names they'd look a lot less obvious.

All of the constellations in krynn represent the symbols of the gods. Actually all of the astral bodys, for example some gods as Reorx are represented by a planet, as well the three moons represent the gods of magic; Nuitari (black moon) for evil magic, Solinari (white moon) good magic, and Lunitari (red moon) neutral magic.
In rare ocasions when gods descent into earth their constelations can disapear from the sky, that was the case of Paladine an Thakisis constelations during the war of the lance.

Some kender heads, for halflings. I'm sorry TR, but kenders are not enough interesting for me in order to made something more than heads.

Shemsu you are forgiven as you seem to specialise in heads. My problem is I don't know how to use 'em. Whenever I try, all the options seem to be greyed out in the toolset.

One other thing with kender vs halflings. My impression is that kender are skinnier/slighter than halflings. They're more wiry.

Kender are just halflings with a drug problem.

And pointy ears. In DnD halflings aren't supposed to have pointy ears (never mind the Peter Jackson films), whereas kender do.

@Tarot Redhand:

In the original D&D and the 2nd E, I think that halflings were more or less like Tolkien hobbits, in other words a little fatty rounded guys. However since 3th edition they have being shown more slender and thin. So, in my opinion, basically Kenders and 3E halflings, only differ in their appearence, by the pointy ears, and maybe in the hairy feet, I don't know..

PS - Do you have problems to change the head of a dynamic NPC, in the auroa tolset?

I am a former member of DLA, and I do have copies of Solace, but I am not legally allowed to release them.  Wish I could, believe me I do.  I was explicitly told to NEVER release them unless OTHER members also agreed.  At one point in time, there was discussion between a few other DLA members and me that they might finish this set and release it.  But those members are long gone now, at least no one will admit to being one of the old nicks that we all knew them by if they exist around here anymore.:crying:

So CLOSE and yet, so FAR AWAY... :( A dream does not come true... :(

Well, thanks for the info Bannor! Nice to see (for me) that there's still a DLA member around!
And I'm really looking forward to the upcoming creations! Great lances, the castle, the Kender heads, ...:wizard:
