Lol even the names are similar. Anders did the exact opposite of what Andraste did but in the same way. Opposing forces none seem to think possible to defeat and dying as martyr in the end. Although if he is alive in a playthrough we'll have to see what happens in DA:I but he will most likey die as he is probably the most wanted person for starting the mage rebelion.

As a speculation, If mages win the war they will hail Anders as a hero and ditch Andraste, who needs her when there is Anders and fellow Anderstians. :wizard:

I really do hope that happens. XD

I hope this happens and Anders becomes immortal with help of Justice. A living breathing god! (pun intended)

On a serious note chances of Anders becoming a symbol of defiance against Templars or simply a martyr is quite high.

The only way he wouldn't be one is if Hawke forced him to side with Templars and word spread about it.

If you want martyrs, look at the mages Anders got killed because he "did what he thought was right".

Because they aren't forced to do anything that the normal people don't do either.  Both are at the countries beck and call for wars.  At worst, they're prisoners living in a locked hotel room of luxury.

I don't know why I'm wasting my breath but here it goes.  People without magic may be conscripted to fight for their country but they're not imprisoned the rest of the time.  A locked hotel room of luxury is still a prison.

I don't think what Anders did was right.  I hope he doesn't become any sort of martyr. I think what he did hurt mages' cause rather than helped it. I am glad that the mages elected to pull away from the chantry and hope they'll be able to start living like people who weren't born with magic do.  If they are not being confined on the off-chance they might seek a demon's help to stop being confined they can actually do great good.

I'm not saying it isn't a prison...I'm saying it isn't slavery.

I think the fact that he's saying they're prisoners at best means he believes the comparison between the circle being a prison is an alright one; just not the slaves comparison.

Edit: Yep.

Not Andraste, but he will be considered a hero, even more so than the Warden perhaps. It all depends on what the Mages will decide to do with their power *if* they win. But to be honest, I don't think neither side will. The complications of importing these outcomes far outweigh the praise such a decision will be given. Unless CDPR manage to do something awesome with the huge political consequences from TW2, I don't think BioWare have any reason to go for it.

Yet another "love to hate Anders" topic.

Seems more like a love to love Anders topic. Now the participants are another story.

Don't you people have anybody else to tear down?

How is this topic tearing down Anders? It's calling him the new Andreste. You seriously choosed the topic to whine about, sweetie. <_<

Schalafi probably thought that the OP made the thread as a joke to mock Anders.

It is kind of a joke topic, but ultimately one I found started more on the fun side than the hate side.

Lets just say I closely know someone very similar to Anders in real life. Someone filled with rage because he is gay and his husband was murdered in a hate crime by Christian zealots. But he has no spirit inside him to make him blow up a church for this injustice but I'm sure he would do it if Justice merged with him. I can completely understand Anders motives and sympathize with him. Your life taken from you by those who foolishly think what they did/doing was/is a divine act. Its true there is a lot differnce between mages and gay people but there are some similarities as well. They are both tryng to get some rights and tolerance from mundane people. But sure gays can't burn a city with a hand wave.

As for the thread Anders becoming a new Andraste is a pun but I was quite serious about him becoming a hero if alive or a martyr if killed.

Bioware will not abandon a character, they never did it. According to legit stactis 80% of players saved Ashely yet Kaidan is not ignored nonetheless.

I am more than certain Anders will get a big role in Inquisiton in playthroughs where he is alive. There is even a slight chance he mighrt become a companion. I doubt it but nothing is certain yet he could become a replacement character for another character that takes his place if Anders is dead.

Bioware techically does abandon some of their characters and your right Kaidan wasn't ignored, Ashley mostly got ignored

And no I highly doubt Anders will play a big role in Inquisition or even become remotely close to being a companion

This also isn't accurate, given how you can force Anders to fight for the Templars and how not all Mages and Circles didn't want a war or to be involved in the war

What would happen in the playthrough where Anders killed himself? Would he be praised for blowing up the Chantry to get the mages to revolt, kill the mages and then off himself?

Exactly, Anders can't play a big role like this given so many variables

Yeah.  I think people tend to forget this option as well since the number who did it are probably pretty low.

One way or the other, I think Anders will be a symbol for the mages. He might be considered a martyr or might be hated...

Just what is so outrageous about Anders becoming an symbol? If the mages indeed win and get their hard won freedom, they will look back and see that it was Anders the one that instigated (or forced) mages to fight back against their jailors, and without him they probally would still be subjugated even today.

I'm not even saying this as Anders supporter or anything, this just seems like an likely scenario if the mages indeed win.

As I said, in Asunder, Fiona mentions she didn't condone Ander's actions even if she understood why he did it. This implies that a good amount of mages believe his actions went too far or there were better alternatives. Then, of course, there are the save imports where he helps kill the mages in the tower after.

I mean I will rage if he does become the new Andraste.

I don't think he's going to be a hero or a symbol, maybe a martyr.  He did destroy the chantry which was filled with innocet people, incluing a very important figure, the gland cleric.

and btw I'm pro mage:wizard:
