Read in another thread where someone got their first Gold solo done and I made a decision to finally start on mine. I've been dreading it for a while but that was all the inspiration that I needed I guess. Well this evening I got the first one done to my surprise and on the first try as well. I was down to 1 Gel and no Ops packs and think I held my breath for the last wave...LOL

Batarian Soldier/Giant/Geth/Scimitar Shotgun/112 minutes

Been trying out more shotguns lately and trying to get the shotgun challenge out of the way, thought I'd give this setup a go and see what happened. By the time the game was over I not only got my first Gold solo, I also finished up the shotgun challenge as well so I'm glad that's out of the way too. Been wanting to finish my challenges here lately, didn't really bother with them much until the past couple of weeks or so.

Might go for the 2nd Gold one this weekend.

Wheew! That's a long time for a solo. My longest was 98 Minutes for my first one.

Congrats! And LOLSchimitar. That was probably your problem right there....

Now, time to do a Platinum Solo!

Why would you willingly use the Scimitar in your first gold solo? I can understand doing it to challenge yourself, but if you already wanted to just get the solo done...

I mean, that's impressive in any case. Congrats OP.

I was about to laugh at that time, but then I saw you were using a Scimitar. Simply completing a solo with the Scimitar is a feat unto itself.

Congrats. Now quit being a baby and solo Platinum.

I know....the Scimitar wasn't the best choice but I was at 66% with it on the shotgun challenge so I tried it anyway since I figured it would end up completing the challenge. I'll pick a better one the next time I try another solo.

And I had devices...for all 3 objectives...time was nearly up on all of them by the time I led the Geth away from them to get them done. Didn't really want to use missiles as I've had them spawn back close to the devices before in the past.

But for the next one try Krogan Vanguard, Reegar Carbine, Incendiary Ammo, Geth and any map you feel comfortable. 25~30 minutes, easily.

Nicely done!! Not an easy kit setup.

We've had a few good games together lately, you may of inspired me to have a go although the little soloing I have done I find laborious.

OP, it doesn't matter how long it takes as long as you extract (unless you're trying to speedrun). Congrats!

Yeah, in a way this is even more impressive than a usual solo, because maintaining your concentration for that long isn't easy. Congrats.

As for me. I only suggesting shedding about 60 minutes from 112 minutes which equals 52 mins. Nobody is asking the guy for a speedrun time.

That is definitely a good feeling...congrats. My first gold solo was the FQE on Jade with Geth...about 50 minutes including a battery swap in the controller (not a recommended action).

Because mah Korguard w Reagard Cardbind can solo N half dat time.

Good job OP. Half of the people giving you grief couldn't solo gold with that weapon/kit.

60 mins was probably spent trying to get the Scimitar challenge completed.

Patience is the key to the first solo. Well done OP, my first solo was 90 odd minutes.

It was nerve wracking and tedious that much was certain.

Next time I'm going to try a more powerful build...maybe something like SpaceV3gan mentioned...and try to have a little more fun with it. Really don't want to go through what I did yesterday again!

Got the 2nd gold solo out of the way tonight.

Krogard/Geth/Giant/Reegar Carbine/67 minutes.

Had a lot more fun with this one which made all the difference!

Congrats. Glad you didn't n00b it up like I did for my gold solos (Krotard, only wanted the banner). If I spend enough time to get a respectable manifest on PS3, maybe I'll go for a non-bull**** solo.
