What are you gonna play out of the box.
For me, traditionally I'm usually an archer, though in more recent years I've played mages first. But a dalish archer is my first thought.
Though, honestly, its so very tempting to play a female saarebas blood mage, just becuase I like the irony of playing a good char that would be one of the most reviled things in all of thedas
First Char?

I need to see some rogue gameplay before I make a decision.
I'll most likely be an elf or Qunari, though.

Mage is my favorite class, elf my favorite race, so probably that.

Likewise, unless I really like the rogue gameplay.

I like variety, so I'll play everything, I just like rogue archers, and well, elves and arches go together, beside rogue archers are really good for learning the curve of a game, good distance attack, but a bit more hardy than mages. I'm just tempted by the irony of a female qunari blood mage thats good.

Gonna be my typical female human warrior who tries to help everyone. Hopefully Champion is a spec option again, since Beserker, Templar or Reaver don't fit her.

Human, mage with a heart of gold

agree, I do hope they come up with some new ones, but I'd like a lot of choices for specializations, I miss the arcane warrior, ranger, and champion spec's

It doesn't matter a whole lot to me because I always mainly control either a mage or mage party member if I'm not a mage.
My canon right now is warden rogue and Hawke warrior, sooo to keep with the pattern I shall go inquisitor mage.

I need keep my consistency of being a human warrior, it's not that I don't like the rouge and mage class but my playing style says: "Kick down a door, beat the crap out of everyone, ignore damage in all forms and act like a tank and be a xp hoarding kill stealer"

Two handed human warrior as a first play through. I just love running around with a massive sword killing things and being fearsome. Plus I hate breaking tradition. All my first runs in any RPG has been with a two handed warrior
In a future play through I will do a qunari rogue. Just the idea of being Seven foot tall and sneaking up behind someone with a pair of daggers makes me laugh

Male dwarf warrior, berserker if possible, and using oversized 2-handed axes! Or maybe dual wield axes if that's possible for warriors again.
On a related note, I hope they fix weapon animations so my characters stop stabbing things with axes, maces and mauls.

I might be an archer, if I can get my own Bianca.

I'll definitely play a rogue archer, just not on my first run

Might offclass an archer if there's manual aim.
Auto aim is no fun.

As long as my character can be a warrior and use bows like in origins then sure

I will most likely start with a Mage, either a Qunari or Human. I always try to start a new class each game, but I always go back to being a Mage. An archer (rogue) sounds fun, but I'm not sure how they play. I know it might be different in this game, but I never tried it in the first two so I don't know.

That's where replayability comes in. I like archers too, but they were underwhelming in DAO. DA2 I finally got to play one and he was awesome. Unfortunately SO is Varric, which makes him redundant...and no Varric means 'sad panda me', so no archer for me (at least till I've had my Varric glut 10-12 playthroughs down the line).
I miss the more varied specs though. My warriors were champions, my rogues were rangers, and would love to see these specs return. As long as Spirit Healer stays. My first playthroughs are kind of lethal to my party since I'm on a learning curve.

Probably 2H Warrior.
Based on what I saw in PAX gameplay demo, I like what they're trying to do with Two-Handers. They will now be able to cover a lot of ground using Army Roll + Chain Harpoon combo, and very quickly close the distance and focus on individual enemies that usually pose the greatest threat (i.e. Mages, Assassins, Arcane Horrors, Saarebas, ...), who are typically positioned far at the back.
I hated some of those situations in previous games where you just couldn't reach enemy casters in time before they one-hit-kill your entire party, even you try to disrupt them using ranged companions.

I really can't decide at this point... I just know it won't be female, qunari, dwarven, or an archer. The rest is up for grabs. Also, not Dalish if I have the choice of City Elf... and if Dalish is mandatory, probably human.
