Other than Merill, Jowan, and the Player, it seems that any mage who uses blood magic becomes a nutjob.
This is why I can't bring myself to be okay with Blood Magic even though I'm Pro-mage.
Do Blood Mages become abominations or are they just usually crazy?

Well it's easier to become possessed when using Blood Magic and some believe that the mages in Kirkwall felt so cornered and hopeless from the Templars oppression that they use easy, powerful magic to fight back regardless of the consequences.

Blood magic is a slippery slope it can corrupt the user because of the power it gives.

I believe Gaider stated that blood magic does indeed corrupt the user over time and attract demons more than other magics.

Blood magic doesn't turn its users into abominations. Blood mages just deal with demons more often, and that can lead to a screw up. Nutballs seem to use blood magic quite a lot, so that presumably leads to them getting a +1 in their head.
