I think the distinction is lost on him, or we're all being trolled. Either way, I'm done trying to explain the difference.

They named it dragon age to be delibrately misleading, and get more fans. It's not about dragons, nor is it about this "age" being particularly special. You might as well call sims the 21st century.Br3ad wrote...

What about that girl wo could communicate with dragons in that anime? What was that about? Does it just go one way? Was that even canon?

Actually, not particularly, I'd like bioware to use more less transparent bids for attention. The elder scrolls is an equally inappropriate name, but at least it's not an obvious grab for undeserved attention. Like mass effect. Was the mass effect the focus of that series? No, but the name didn't create false expectations, or grab for a section of the market that wouldn't otherwise have played.eluvianix wrote...

All I have to say is this...if you base whether or not you might like a book/video game by the cover art/title.

We don't usually get to play games before purchasing them. It's not like a book, where you can read a little before you buy.Veruin wrote...

Considering most games are sold over the internet and through digital downloads, you can usually watch youtube videos of the game or even see screenshots of it. This is only applicable if you buy a physical copy in a store, in which case, you read the summary on the back of the case.

Agreed. DA and Skyrim are the first bits of story telling I've seen in a long time that went with "Dragons are monsters that find you tasty with ketchup" as opposed to the ancient wise dragon theme.

To be fair Skyrim used the ancient wise dragon theme with Paarthurnax too.

Even those are misleading, You Tube and media about Dragon Age showing dragons here and there, but the game have nothing about dragons. DA:O trailers even worse, showing Grey Wardens and what it means to be a Grey Warden, then the hero have fiery eyes facing darkspawns, but the story is not about what it means being a Grey Warden either, nothing at all. It just about a dude/dudess roaming around Ferelden involving in other people's problems, and have sex. Then the Sacred Ashes trailer, the hero again have fiery eyes, stabbing a dragon. But there is no such thing in the game. In any DA:O playthroughs videos, we will see only two dragons...the High dragon, and the Archdemon. So two dragons in a supposed age of dragons.
Again, my point is, the dragons in DRAGON Age is nothing more than monsters being put in the game for battle, to be killed. We care less about the dragons, because they just being there to make Dragon Age must have a dragon to be killed.
In contra with TES : Skyrim, TES is not about dragons, but Skyrim is about the world is supposed to be ended by dragons (Edit : and the appearance of a Dragonborn in Skyrim to stop it), so there are dragons in Skyrim. And the dragons there are more interesting than a game that supposed to be about a world in the age of dragons, Dragon Age.

ES is about the Elder Scrolls, the game is literally about setting Elder Scrolls into definite time.Rotward wrote...

DA is abou the the Dragon Age. It is literally about the time frame of the Dragon Age, and Age named after you guessed it, a dragon.
ME is about Mass Effects, literally everything in it is controlled by Mass Effect technology, including the main antagonist of the series.
If we are going to complain, can our complaints at least make sense. Most of the time, the tiles says exactly what the series about, and even then, it shouldn't be taken as only that. Literally judging a book by its cover is deplorable to say the least.

Actually there isn't a single Dragon in Skyrim, they are Wyverns. But thats a technicality xD

No your point is that you will emphasize one word out of context to the entire title and the in game lore to go on some off topic rant. By your own logic The ELDER Scrolls should be about a retirement home.

No talking animals. This is one of the underlying rules for the Dragon Age universe, and it includes dragons. Closest we've come to breaking that rule is the desire demon illusion in the Shale adventure (which was technically a talking cat), but it's never going to be a thing otherwise.
So, yes, all dragons must be monsters.
Nope, nothing about the Elder Scrolls in there.

Just out of curiosity, why do you play Dragon Age? If it's because of the dragons, I imagine it would be a fairly easy choice to just......stop playing if you feel the title is too misleading. That is of course if the dragons are the only thing of interest to you.

True. I guess it would be fair to say with Skyrim it was both. The dragons were ancient and very intelligent....and they found you tasty with ketchup. Most of them did, anyway.

I play Dragon Age : Origin because it was a popular game, and have dragons. I expect to learn more about dragons by what it have been established by DA:O in DA2. But DA2 have nothing about dragons other than a monster to kill, the story also not about Archdemon dragon whatsoever. I already stated that i don't want to play DA:I and DA franchise is weak

You started playing Origins AFTER it became popular and you didn't know what it was about?
You didn't ask anyone?
On the internet maybe?
