So I am now doing a Vanguard and debating on whether I should go with squad incendiary ammo. My fear is that if I do that it could mess up some combos. So what happens if you have Liara use a singularity on someone, then charge them while they are being shot with incendiary ammo? Do you get a crappy FE, or a full bore BE?

The most recent will be the effect you get--if you go with incendiary ammo after the singularity is up, that's the combo you'll get. It's a game of recency, that.

The FE isn't ineffective, but I see what you mean--you can build sing/BC for exposions outright, and if you're playing on Insanity, that's the way to go.

I get through my Vanguard Insanity runs much quicker and with much more ease since I started focusing on FE's instead of BE's, the amount of damage FE's do is ridiculous. The section during the Omega DLC where you face those dozens of Ramparts Mechs was one of the most fun sections in the trilogy. Fire Explosions everywhere!

An FE with incendiary ammo as the primer is weak compared to a rank 6 biotic primer and rank 6 charge. Ammo powers, no matter how far they are evolved, only count as rank 1. I love FE's in general, but only if used with a non-ammo primer such as incendiary grenades or incinerate.

A rank 7 FE won't be too much weaker than a rank 12 BE that does not have any combo damage multiplier bonuses, as is the case with Singularity -> Charge, at least against health targets.  It is a couple hundred damage.

If the primer you are using has a Detonate evolution though, it is a bit different, although in most cases you cannot prime as frequently as you can with incendiary ammo.

Alternatively, the other way you would lose out is in barrier damage, but there aren't really that many targets in SP with barriers anyway, and when you do run into them, you won't be priming the barrier with IA anyway.

I'm pretty sure that only applies in MP. In SP the level of the ammo power is used to determine the level instead of a fixed value of 1.

"Ammo consumables
Despite the fact that a incendiary 1 can do as much fire explosion damage as incendiary 4, higher level ammo have a much higher chance of setting up said combos. Note that in Singleplayer, the level of the ammo power is used to determine the level instead of a fixed value of 1"

Thanks for the info. The wiki may need to be fixed.

The one advantage of priming with ammo is that with squadmates with automatic weapons, targets prime continually w/o using any CD.

Ammo primed explosions probably are weaker than those primed with active powers, but you'll never see a practical difference imo. You'll still be finishing most fights in this game in 1 min. or less.
