Something is bugging me about the Krysae Sniper Rifle.

Why does it take so long for the reload to respond, half the time I mess up the Reload Cancel because the timing is off. ;_;

It was part of a nerf that biower did. It was once an extremely overpowered weapon so they nerfed it's DPS and reload speed.

EDIT* The difference was so drastic that most players abandoned the krysae

You have to wait for the minimum refire time to expire before you can start to reload. That goes for all weapons.

What Cain said (though I never experienced the Krysae pre-nerf)

I also notice that some weapons' ammo gauge refill sooner in their animations than others, which affects RC'ing if you're going by rhythm.

For what it was in its original state probably.

They have decreased it's ROF, which automatically increases the time you need to wait to reload.

Wraith for example also used to throw me off, after playing some games using a Claymore.

They didn't actually change the reload speed. That causes visual problems.

The rate of fire was reduced though, which increases the amount of time between firing the last shot and starting the reload.

The reload speed wasn't nerfed... The refire time was. After you fire the final shot, you have to wait through the refire time, then you can start the reload animation. The ROF nerf is what really killed the weapon.

Edit: Damn.. I got double ninja'd

ok I understand now. So if say a Marksman kit used the Krysae, it would reload normally?

Yup.  Which, by the same token, doesn't make sense.

You would have an instant reload turning on Marksman and faster reload IN Marksman (I think), but not normally.

Marksman kinda sucks with it because you can take advantage of the accuracy or headshot bonuses.. Devastator Mode and Hunter Mode help the most.

Even with the dps drastically reduced it was still considered OP. It was a result of people crying about it in threads back in the days. That was the era of the great complaints and cry babies. Some weapons and kits were nerfed to the point of disgust and uselessness. The people cried for nerfs and biower answered. Thing is that they cried more because they didn't like the plate that was served:mellow:

Well, it can replace the Adas on my current Adas + N7 Piranha Quarian Marksman. :)

So, the krysae would work better for me on my Destroyer?

I would think so... And if specced for Mag Size, it would/could get a 4th shot.

The second Krysae nerf was uncalled for. I hardly ever saw anyone using it after the first nerf. People were using newly buffed guns.

Do you even remember those days? Do you remember how many lobbies were filled with 2-3 Krysae Infiltrators? It was
a plague... It dominated the metagame because it was super noob friendly and had the best DPS in the game.. the damn thing didn't even require aiming.. and you could double tap it with the zoom they removed.

The first few nerfs were laughable (what 10% damage nerf? Puhleaze.)
Then came the Big 'Un and it became an extreme niche weapon that doesn't destroy anything and everything within 10 seconds in an AOE.
