This is how I feel about the trilogy. 1 and 2 are both awesome and deserve replays, but I can't stomach playing 3 more than twice (to get to level 60). The only real redeeming factor for me is the Citadel DLC (other than that, I stick to post-game headcanon).
That said, I do think the trilogy as a whole is worthy of the top spot. One bad experience doesn't ruin every other part of the franchise.

I have criticisms for all three games, but I also enjoy all three games.
ME1 is overrated, ME3 is overhated.

My impression of the term "hater", based on the context surrounding its usage by the type of people who use it, is that it refers to anyone with varying taste and at least a modicum of standards.
It's found most commonly on IGN's forums and comment sections.
