Anybody tried this out yet? The demo has an exclusive side story not available in the full game. I played for about a hour earlier today. I like that you can switch jobs on the fly, plus you can mix job abilities. I turned everybody into knights since there's no magic I can use for any of the mages. I'm not sure if I have a grasp on the Brave & Default system. Unless multiple attacks and less damage really is the gist of it. Good demo so far. Had to turn the difficulty to easy because I was getting my butt kicked starting out.

Didn't realize there was a demo. I'll download it and give it a whirl.

I've enjoyed it so far, glad they were able to clear up the eshop issues intime. Playing with a mixed group, & steadily getting a hang of the system. Still havent figured out how to do magic either. Maybe that's locked off for the demo, would have been nice to use some wind magic against the first boss. The town building part almost seems like a facebook perversion but I like it, nice use of the spotpass.

After an unfortunate first battle party wipe thanks to a Aerora-casting cat, I'm getting into the groove.

Just finished killing the Melusine, who OHKOd my ninja on the first or second turn with Aeroga. Damn wind spells.

@J Reezy and Neo - there's a magic shop in town that you buy spells from. It's a tad misleading as it says they're magic scrolls, which normally you'd assume were consumable items. They're not, though. They just went all FF1 on us.

Oh, I saw the shop. Couldn't make them work though, it was like I could see them attached to a character & the inventory but could not find the option to use them in battle. Even when I had mage. The solution is probably ridiculously easy & I'm just not seeing it yet. lol

Yeah. Some magical region called Europe or something has it.

Gotta admit, the chibi style is a bit of a turn-off. Gameplay looks fun.

Does Fox News care about Japan? They're the only place using the untarnished class clothing. Every other region got censored.

Oh, this game with the incredibly creepy models. The gameplay itself doesn't look like something I'd be interested in either.

I've completed the game and don't remember seeing that there. The Europe version must be different to the Japan one.

So in battle, when you select "abilities" as a mage, the job skills don't show up? I've used all three flavors of mages, it's always there for me. Even when you're not a mage, equipping a magic set as your second job ability works. I don't remember if you had to equip primary job abilities first, but I did dig around the menus for quite a while before I actually started playing, so it's possible.

Do any job skills work for you? Ironclad, Jump, etc? Or is it just magic that doesn't?

Yeah it's just the magic so far. The other abilities from different jobs work just fine, arn't greyed out as options. I like the Valkyrie & the Swordmaster so far, their abilities have been paying off for me.

Which spells did you buy? You can only use cure/poisona/blindna and fire/blizzard/thunder as a level 1 mage.

I figured it out after work today! Thank you for the advice Shep.

I'm on the fence about the censorship. I think the changes will make fan art more comfortable, & cosplaying will be easier for people with the added clothing I would think. Despite the changes the people who would have been offended by the originals will probably still be offended so who needs them. It'll be completely stupid though if Enix doesn't learn from this & we just end up dealing with it all again with the sequel.

Learn what? There's no fault with Square Enix. They made the game and catered to the taste of their audience. Then they made the necessary changes so that the game caters to the taste of audiences in a specific region. The west has a different set of cultural faux pas than Japan. It's not like the alterations change much. They just line up with what the culture of whatever region its released in finds more acceptable.
