SuZe? No interest what so ever. Chances are I'll completley sideline her if it's possible (just like I did with most characters in DAO) because she doesn't interest me. It's not the Natalie Portman in V for Vendetta look, it's not the nipple straps nor the tats. It's the fact she just doesn't seem that interesting. If she was a real woman I wouldn't be attracted to her at all.

She doesn't come across as a strong woman unless it's in regard to her biotics. Just watched the trailer for her again, and I see no positives. She's arrogant, cocky, headstrong, full of herself, rude and looks like she'll be a royal PITA, maybe doubly so if you're paragon.

someone was a boy/girl scout growing up I take?  Dead give away with that last sentense.  Seriously though Im not hating, or not diliberately anyway.  Different people like different things I suppose.  For me it's being able to relate to the character(s) as to whether or not I like them.  And seeing as how I can relate to SuZe in a few ways, I actually respect her.

Im personally interested in SuZe, she seems like a tough, and random one.. but she has her weak spors and most definitly does she have an interesting backstory.. im sure she will be a "garrus" type character that by the end of the game she will change depending on your choices..

Or Alma from F.E.A.R.  I almost literally ****e myself in 1 and 2 throughout the entire games....that chick...Just....plain....creepy....*spoiler*

and then Alma rapes you at the end of F.E.A.R 2 making her even more creepy
*****************************
*end spoiler*

Haha! Yeah she was one downright overpowered woman. I really did freak when she would appear right behind you and just dash out to grab you. One crazy ass woman she is. And the SPOILER!!!!!

bit when she rapes you in the end was just mental. I freaked. And she got preg00rzz!!!  END SPOILER.

Well... from my opinion, I'm all for women being tough and all, but not to the point where it's just... I dunno, grotesquely over muscular or over macho. And when I say over-Macho, I mean to the point where they start beating up 1000 tonne boulders ala Resident Evil 5. My god, I'm a huge RE fan too but when I saw Chris Redfield do that near the end of the game, I was in tears of laughter. It was so surreal.

I think SuZe is a teeny bit too over-the-top.

"I'm fighting... because that was WHAT I WAS MADE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

With Mr. Than "I kill people and feel nothing" and Mr. Grunt "I have no character depth beyond excessive violence", I have trouble taking any of this seriously.

But yeah, most of the criticism isn't about this, it seems more criticism of tattooed bald women in general, which is because most men can't stand strong women at all.

Because most men hate the idea (whether they realize it or not,) that a woman could be their equal in any manner.  I on the other hand am not one of those men....Love my wife dearly but making her angry is the last thing I want to do.  Simply put, because if Im not on my toes she could kick my ass and I enjoy that lol.

You need a strong woman so she can work all the equipment in the kitchen.

Ashley was a strong woman, and most people were fine with her. Subject Zero is just a psycho with some serious issues, that is not strong at all.

Hell, my female Shephard was strong as well.

This thread is so full of fail. Instead of realizing that people might not like Subject Zero because she is a one-dimensional psycho, you decide to make this stupid thread.

Killing her off in my first opportunity.

This thread is hillarious.
No offense to anyone, but are there really people who are scared of "strong" women, just because they are gamers?
If I am perfectly honest,  it is not a strong woman you should be scared off, but the one who can squeeze your "manhood" with her legs and break it or worse. Now that is most definitely the most scariest thing that a man could experience in real life.

:D

i dunt have a problem with chicks playing video games. Only problem i could possibly have with more girls in the gaming industry in general is that games become more multi-gendered and would likely appeal less to the males that have dominated the gaming world for so long (i mean if i had to 'talk it out' instead of just shooting a guy in the head...).

hot chicks playing cod... yes please!

Actually virtually by definition psychotics are weak.  They are too weak to control there own impulses.  From the teaser trailers there are things I like about her and things I don't.  We will see in game what parts come across stronger.

Wow, nice blatantly sexist post.

"Most men hate the idea that a woman could be their equal in any manner"

That's called a stereotype, a negative generalization.  Since it's based on gender, it's called being sexist.
You are being sexist.

I'm all for women's equality, but if you're going to be sexist about it, you're totally missing the point.

It is what it is...just because you call me "sexist" for it doesnt make me change my stance.  And yes, it is a broad generalization or "stereotype" as some might call it...

A wise man once said that we only get angry when accused of doing/being something when deep down we know it's true.

Surely there are many, many psychopaths who are strong as a bull and could easily snap the likes of us like twigs, and also have the emotional demeanor of a wall of steel.

A wise man once said "Ignorance begets more confidence than does knowledge"

You do not possess the knowledge to speak on how the majority of the male populace feels.  Do you have statistical surveys to support your hypothesis?

It is merely a perception you've developed from your own interactions, which is inherently flawed given the way your brain works.  Your mind counts every time you assumption is right and disregards when it isn't, thus a stereotype is born.

Edit:
If you'd like to look it up, it's called "Confirmation Bias", and you can even find articles directly referencing it's role in stereotypes.
Interestingly, your 'wise man's' quote also falls under this.  If the person was truly wise, he'd recognize that people have a tendency to respond negatively to insults or offensive statements, regardless of the veracity of those statements.
Next time your wife asks you how she looks in a dress, respond negatively, and see how well she takes it.  If she gets mad, just break out that tidbit of wisdom on her, I'm sure it'll clear up the situation.

It's not deep, it's a psychological clichee, i'm sorry. Did it ever occur to you that a "solid identity"  could be an illusion to begin with, one that society imposes on the subject to make it more docile? And that there may be people who want to oppose that?

Don't say sorry when you don't mean it, it cheapens the word. And no, it's not 'cliche'. Common? Yes. Because it's true. I say this as someone who has come through simliar behavior. Years of abuse, traumtic events, and about a half-dozen psychiatrists spanning ten years.

Solid identities are not illusions to me. I'm an incredibly solitary individual. 'Society' is just a cop-out generalization.

Now, you can feel free to disagree with me about my take on Subject Zero or my analysis (I am not a licensed professional afterall) but don't question my intelligence. I've got twenty-five years experience at life, and your post is making you an example of your own theory. I deny you, sir. I deny you!

You can lighten up now. It's a game forum.

Renmak, i meant no offense nor did i question your intelligence. I just wanted to point out, as some kind of thinking-experiment, that a behaviour like SuZes may be the result of traumatic events but can be embraced nonetheless by the person as a result of what made them into what they are now, which can be something that they are proud of. And i am perfectly aware of the fact, that we are talking about a game here. It wasn't me who dragged personal RL-Experience into the equation, i never intended that. If i would have to deal with someone as deranged as SuZe in RL i would totally agree with you but i'm talking about the possible internal logic of an artistic expression (a characterdesign) and as such i don't care if she is healthy or follows the rules of real life psychology but if she is an original character in the quasi-mythological framework of the ME-Universe, that's all i care about here.

Edit: I see that you are a character designer yourself, so you should know what i'm talking about, even if we may have different views on what art can and should do.

Don't worry about my personal examples. I wouldn't talk about them if they still hurt me. I was just pointing to that as the basis for my opinion on the game character. I write a lot (won't say I'm good at it though) and I encorporate a lot of what I have lived through into my stories, so I was taking that angle. That my real life overlaps into fiction makes it more believable, I think. 'Write what you know' as they say...

While Subject Zero may be fictional, the players discussing her here are not, and so you're bound to see posts about her made in a 'real-life' context.  But since I've said my piece and you seem much more invested in her than myself, this is going to be my last post.

Actually, for starters...She hates dresses...Secondly...If she wears something and it looks like crap on her, I tell her...and heres the amazing thing...She RESPECTS ME for it....wow...

But seriously though.  Im allowed to stereotype just like you're allowed to judge me for stereotyping....But seeing as how you lack any real knowledge of knowing me, your own words come back to bite in you the arse so to speak.
