Do strong women scare gamers?

Subject Zero is a violently aggressive woman who throws around chairs and was in a cult. She seems to make it a point to act as unpleasantly as possible. People who have a problem with Subject Zero don't necessarily have a problem with strong women.

Yes I wonder how many people would complain if subject zero was a man?
Nothing particulary special about a bald physcotic man covered in tattoos tbh. Being female is what makes her character interesting.

Men and women behave in different ways. The men you describe are coping through compensating, Subject Zero is coping through rejection (of what's 'normal'). Both are ultimately immature, and uninteresting.Caion wrote...
I agree. Look at all the walking steroid/testosterone filled space marines who also swear and have tattoos that people think are cool. This leads me to believe that if Subject Zero were a man, people would think she's badass instead of being "disturbed." Gaming is a predominantly male audience, and it shows.

I've NEVER seen any male figure intended to be "cool" be covered in a full body tattoo, piercings, and be skinheaded.
If I ever saw ANYBODY that looked like SuZe (male or female) IRL, I would avoid them.
That s*** doesn't make you look "strong" or "cool" it makes you look like you've gone through much disturbing things in life, and that you are confrontational and potentially violent.

seriously, the internets is chokeful of threads about how "disturbed" everyone is about Subject Zero. This is a little too telling to not be embarrasing. I for one really LOVE that characterdesign, seriously, it doesn't mean that i would humb her in RL (but i'm not even sure about that), but for a GAMECHARACTER she is quite unique and badass, it puzzles me that everyone and their mother seem to hate her. There's already enough ****** and asses in that game to please the adolescent, we need something to counterbalance that. And i really love the overall characterdesign so far, just "Grunt" seems a little to obvious to me.
DO stupid questions irritate the hell out of me? Why yes, yes they do. There will always be close minded people, who judge others based on their appearances. So unless you are going to go "open their minds" and change the way they see things, I don't want to hear you ****ing.

Subject Zero is a strong character? From what I hear, it doesn't seem like such and there are other reasons why people dislike her. For example, a strong woman doesn't bother me, but a psychopath bothers me. From the looks of things, which party member is a strong woman? I'm excluding femshep because of her being the player.

Well, I just got a picture in my head of what SuZe would look like if she was a man. The picture I got was Edward Norton when he played in American History X, but with more tattoos.... I think that's only because I saw that movie recently, but meh.
I support SuZe, anyway, (possible) awesome character.

I call nonsense. Generalizations are rarely true, and I'd think all you "open-minded" folk looking down at all us supposedly "backwards" and "hopelessly biased" (at least that's what I'm feeling rolling off of this post in waves) should know that by now.
I still don't want a freaking bipolar gangster from outer space in my party be it male, female, gay or straight. Hell, the thing's likely to turn out to be a hermaphrodite, anyways, if the rumors hold. I could care less about its sex, but about it's generally unpleasant disposition.

From what we see now, she's just a random psychopath. Of course all of us knows that there is more to this story, but as long as we don't know the full tale, we can't say if she's scaring people because she a strong women or she's seducing mature men because she's an all powerful biotic ****.

Then i'm sorry, it never occured to me that grown men could be aroused by polygons. Even the best character models out there (case in point ME 2) still look like plastic-marionettes. If you got a secret fetish for puppets though, well that's another story entirely.
Meh get of your high horse.
It's digital media like any other. A picture of a real model or a porno mag is also just polygons. You can't appriciate that either? Must be a dull life.

tattoos, Aggressive piercings, and a need to show off too much skin,
These
are obvious signs of very tramatic childhoods, and So far it seems she
was a test subject for god knows what kind of horrible tests, and You
think she just comes out of all these test as a strong person? It
Doesn't it just makes messed up people who handle things the wrong way,
with sex, crazy attitudes and Choatic relationships.
Im sure we will see how choatic and messed up she is, during the game.
These
kind of people are made through rape, beatings, losing parents,
mentally abusive parents, neglectful parents and ritualistic torture.

The only one being insecure here is the OP.
Why would your happiness be tied to someone else's opinion of a fictional character? You do realize Bioware has admitted that they made her controversial on purpose.

Right, I stated much of what you've said in my later post. I was also speaking relative to real life.
RP in the game, I don't care for such things and I'm very interested in conversing with all characters and seeing how they handle, and unlocking their pasts.
