Of course it's her prerogative to do that, but I think you guys are kind of missing something important here: how messed up is it to be so desperate to look white that you take the drastic step of plastic surgery?  It's a variation on the trend of using bleaches to whiten one's skin because white skin is perceived as more desirable than dark.

It's just one more sad testament to the prevalence of racism.

Not sure why she would do that, as recent studies and polls show that Asian women have surpassed white women as the most desirable women by men.  Asian women now sit on top of the food chain.

Wow, way to completely blow it out of proportion. Its less drastic then a sex change or any kind of body altering surgery. I hear people talk about tattoos the same way you talk about this and really why do people get so self rightous and angry about what other people choose to do with their bodies? Honestly your attitude towards it sickens me a little.

You could say that in Western and European culture, and in some places it might be true, but we aren't talking about them, we're talking about Asian culture, where Caucasians are looked at for being wealthy and desirable in the past, and the general scarcity of that race in Asian countries.

She's making herself more desirable to her enviornment.

There have been far more drastic changes done to people via surgery than this.

If that's what she wanted to do, then more power to her for doing it. It's not what I would do, but then it's not my place to be judging her over it. I imagine I do things that others would consider strange as well.

That's her thing, it's cool. Society influencing her, exterior influences, whatever - her motivation to become a "stronger" version of herself per-say and if this helps, more power to her.

Japanese women are hot. Don't get why she wants to look like Ashley from ME 3, but that's her choice I guess.
