Let's get one thing out of the way, the Mass Effect triology was a Superhero Team Up story especially so with Mass Effect 2. You gather alleis to defeat the big bad and save the galaxy as the story has been told countless number of times in other mediums/works. So I was thingking wether Bioware should try to go in a different direction (again). Neither they nor we shpould be discouraged by Dragon Age II since an unconventional and personal plot was one of it's few strengths.

So here is my suggestion. How many of you have heard of DC Comic's Suicide Squad? Imagine a team of the most dangerous people on the planet. Now imagine another team made of far worse people sent to kill the first team. That's the Suicide Squad, consisting of a set of antiheroes and villains including Deathstroke who you may have seen in Arkham Origins or Arrow tv series. Simply put, Saren would think these guys were overkill.

That should be our team. Wether funded by the Alliance, Council (replacing the SPECTRE program) or hell even a private contractor who would be our Amanda Waller/Mission Control/Admiral Hackett. The protagonist would be Deathstroke. Captured and interrogated for numberous crimes and deaths, he/she get's a one way oppurtunity to freedom if they agree to become part of the Suicide Squad project where they would be sent of multiple Suicide Missions and not just one like Shepard was (Keep the mechanics even).

Your squadmates would be silimarlily villanous with varying degree's of darkness, the kind of people we spent our time killing in the Mass Effect trilogy. Instead of saving the world the stakes will involve freeing ourselves from the Squad, saving ourselves and perhaps even gaining redemption by doing one or two good things. Relationship between members would be very important and I would love to see intersquad conflict where two members fight and you have to get them to cool down. Also, if you take the time to get to know/understand your team you could redeeem a few yourself and put a bullet in the heads of those too far gone into evil.

Thoughts?

I don't think Bio's the studio to write this, unless Montreal's got a really different approach from Edmonton.

I can't see them doing an entire new trilogy on this idea, but a stand alone game, in the vein of ME2 I think would be very fun. I am just imagining having a squad full of Jack's, and that is not a bad thing.

Ummm....I imagine Mass Effect 2's team was more akin to the Suicide Squad then any Justice League. After all, it WAS for a suicide mission that consisted of mercenaries and convicts..not all shiny super heroes.

So the Red Dead Redemption approach?

It sounds like pretty much every BioWare game. You are the MC, and your squad is made up of people with varying backgrounds. The only difference here is everyone is a 'bad' guy, whereas BW usually tries to supply you with both.

My money would be on some of the 'bad' people still being 'good,' so it would turn out to be the same thing.

An entire game of suicide missions where your team could die on any mission if you don't make the right decisions? That's something I'd like to see.

It wasn't so much of a suicide mission than common sense and making your squaddies with daddy issues feel like you cared about them.

I wouldn't count Garrus, Tali, Samara, JAcob, and Miranda as convicts or mercs either.

Mass Effect should probably try moving away from being an interactive comic book in general.

No thanks, nothing against it personally but I DO enjoy playing the hero and it seems a little incompatible with this

Also, DA2 should not be used as a proper reference point

How about Deadpool Inc. style?
