Wouldn't it be more fisically responsible to put your game on as many consoles (and PC) as possible?

To sell the console of course. It's really about an icon. Xbox: Halo is one example. It's about making a game franchise that not only sells the game, but sells the console, which might give some extra money as well.

Or maybe game developers are idiots, I don't know, I'm just a gamer.

Well, if hardware manufacturers didn't pay publishers to develop exclusives, there probably wouldn't be very many.

Yup.

It is very easy to develop exclusive games for your console systems when you outright own the developers. Such as Microsoft's Turn 10, Sony's Naughty Dog and Polyphony. Even Bungie was owned by Microsoft until 2007 and now Microsoft's own 343i is making the next Halo game.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Perhaps I should do some additional research. :pinched:

I am about to start a thread titled "Why do the very wealthy not simply give away their excess money?"

Pretty much this. Although, to be fair, all console exclusives should also be developed for PC seeing as neither Microsoft nor Sony see it as a console.:D

Yes it would be.

It is why Final Fantasy (the meltdown over this one was great), Kingdom Hearts, and Metal Gear Solid have all come to the Xbox brand. There is a market there, ever rising development costs need to be recouped, and they didn't want to leave that money on the table.

Moving forward, with the similarity between the PS4 and X1 pushing down port costs, why not? Despite what fanboys think, outside of paid exclusivity it's not like third parties owe Sony (or MS) anything.
