As a general rule of thumb, how well do the vanilla humans
work on Plat? I'm thinking of dusting off my vanilla engineer
because my main Shep's an engie and I'm having a blast
wrecking up ****e with Tali and Garrus in Single-Player.
What builds, if any, do you run the vanilla humans with if you
PUG Platinum with them? What kind of success do you have?

Funny you should ask. Last night I mentioned that I had never taken my Femgineer onto Plat so Jojo81 had us do UUP with 4 vanilla engineers. We got Condor Geth. Managed to extract without too much of a problem but I realized I'm not strong enough to PUG plat with her. I built her 46646.
TetsuTsuru can wreck face with her.

The HSent and HAdept would most likely perform better on platinum than gold. since bosses can't dodge projectile powers, and HEng would likely be great too, due to his FE->TB juggle combo.
Since biotic and tech detonations scale with difficulty, their DPS will also improve on platinum I think.
I can't give any first-hand information though, since I don't play platinum, sorry.

I've used the Human Adept, Engineer, and Sentinel on Platinum serviceably, and I'm not real good at the game.

I frequently use the original engineer and adept, they're great. You should only ever use the novaguard if you're hosting.

All the Humans do well. I enjoy running the Human Infiltrator and Soldier on plat. So much fun.

I love the HA on plat. I play him with cyclonic IV if possible. If you have good teammates, you can score big with all of the biotic explosions everywhere.

The vanilla characters are some of the most well rounded characters in the game. Each of them can utilize several different builds and still be successful on Platinum. I'm personally a fan of the H. Soldier, using the avenger + disruptor ammo + concussive shot for crazy tech bursts. Takes a little practice, but it's fun as hell once you get used to it!

The Female Human Adept is my go-to character on Platinum. Singularity/Warp for long distance targets....Singularity/Shockwave or Warp/Shockwave for close up Biotic Explosions. Throw on the CSMG with Warp IV ammo and I'm good to go.

I regularly run the Adept, Sentinel and lately the Engineer on Platinum.
To answer you question, all the human kits are capable of doing work. As far as builds, I go no passives on the Adept, 4/6/6/6/4 on the Sentinel and no Drone on the Engineer.

The only vanilla human who is less than great is the sentinel. It isn't terrible mind you, just outclassed by other kits. Kinda like the Salarian engi. All are perfectly viable on plat, so long as you can handle playing a squishy character on plat in general (exception being the Novaguard, who is tanky but you have to be smart at avoiding sync kills).
My usual builds for the vanilla characters are, engi I run with no drone, soldier with no concussive and a Typhoon, adepts with 6/6/6/4/4 or 6/6/6/6/0, novaguard with no shockwave and a Talon/Hurricane and the infiltrator I run with no stickies if sniping and no fitness if using a closer range weapon (I can't hit crap with stickies at range).

I've used all vanilla humans on UUP except for the vanguard. All great.
I usually run 66653 on Adept and Engineer. The difference between 3 ranks in Fitness and 6 is neglible since their base shields are relatively low - Cyclonic IV will do ya good if you still get shot up. I still like throwing the drone out there, myself - Plays games with the Geth.
Tchock's builds are how I run my soldier (usually with a Wraith, though I've used Claymore with success too) and the Infiltrator (Claymore, here) with success.
The Sentinel is a BE beast - 66644 - though you could easily go Clyde's route and go 0 fitness for some more weapon damage. Just like with the Adept, a power amp is a waste here, so a Cyclonic or Adrenaline amp are solid choices here.
