Well yeah. A lot of villains are, it just so happens that his end goal particularly is. I don't think that's enough to make him a 'lame' villain though.

I completely understand number one. Looking back its actually quite out of character for Disney.

It could've been handled without having him spelling it out to someone he apparently cared little-to-nothing for, but the move nonetheless was a nice change of pace without having Hans become a "Muhahaha" villain. His motives could've been potentially noble, but it was left vague and unexplained.

At least in terms of badassery in a Disney movie, yes. I can fully agree with that.

I will say that at least all the Maleficent praise in that article made me happy, but that's just super huge fangirl bias acting up. Some of the points I suppose were valid but I have to strongly disagree on the voice acting one. Yes I do appreciate my Disney villains being fairly in your face (hence Maleficent, Scar, Ursula and Frollo being my favorites) but there's something special about a cool (Why yes, I did stop myself from saying cold...) demeanored villain which

both Hans and Mother Gothel have down so well once they take off their airs. The rushed climax is probably the only real complaint I have with the movie and that was really only a let down in light of the ice castle fight that preceded it for me.

Hans voice actor was not bad, but I do feel it's weak compared to Jeremy Irons, Richard White, Eleanor Audley, Keith David, Pat Carroll, Jonathan Freeman and Tony Jay.

ugh Olaf, he is quite possibly the worst Disney character in existence, the film would have been no different without him, he adds nothing, scrath that the fim would have been better without him.
