Since Pirates of the Caribbean? Pirates of the Caribbean was a good movie?


You could add to that

Thor 1 and 2
Captain America 1 and if you believe what people are saying Captain America 2, I'd also add Ironman 3 but I know alot of die hard Marvel fans don't like it.

I rewatched Pirates actually. It's holds up pretty well honestly. I had fun at least.

 

Anyone with an appreciation for good writing and character development should agree that Iron Man 3 is one of the worst films/sequels of all time. We can only hope Joss Whedon can fix what Shane Black horribly broke.

 

Anyway, we're getting off track.

So back to Frozen...

There is alot of people who'd disagree, just look at its box office. Its a bit like the last Star Trek that was out, non Star Trek fans loved it, said it was one of the best Star Trek films they ever saw, while hardcore trekkies hated it.

That's what they said about Avatar and Titanic, and both those movies suck.

lol have you seen the critic rating for both those films on rotten tomatoes they are in the 80s which is good, I don't like Titanic either but thats my preference and I know I'm in the minority.

I watched the film for the first time yesterday. I really enjoyed it, but I don't think it should have won the Oscar for best animation over the wind rises, although as a huge Ghibli fan, I might just be biased here :')

Why do you care so much? If you really like the movie then it's box office placement should really mean nothing to you since you are a viewer.

Well I agree that there shouldn't be much emphasis placed on the box office earnings, its nice when a film you enjoyed so much succeeds.

I agree it feels nice when something you enjoyed does great but their a fine line, and focusing on the number instead of your own true enjoyment is something I just don't agree with.

It can be fun, but I understand what you mean.

 

My favorite animated film of last year probably wasn't 1/10th as successful as Frozen yet still did very well for itself and had much more of an impact on me then Frozen, I wouldn't think any less of it in comparison to Frozen just because of the earnings. That said, I'm still glad Frozen is doing well, since it obviously had a lot of effort put into it. Personally the gross doesn't change my opinion of it at all though.

I like seeing the gross ascend because I can use it as ammo to annoy the more shallow* members of my family. (E.g that one film you don't like that you've never watched has managed to surpass all those films you really like. This hurts you.)

 

Is that so bad?
