Agreed. My original impression of Olaf wasn't that great, but it works just dandy in the movie and his origins make for a good fit. Anna and Kristoff's varying personalities playing off each other are pretty fun to watch.

I wouldn't think worse of him, but his presence would have less of an impact. My feelings would depend on how they tied him in the movie if Disney decided to try things differently.
 
He's exactly what you'd expect from a Snowman brought to life. Having him as sort of the comedic relief and the caring innocent one, you can't help but root for him a little as he tries to single-handedly stop a Frost Atronach. Should've put more skill points in Carrot Archery. But as you said, the connection between elsa and anna cements his role in the movie really well.

Anna really needs to be careful of what she wishes for. I would rather for Elsa to have freezing power than "tropical" power.

I watched Frozen for the first time last night and I loved it.

 

I wish I could already move out and set up my little home theater corner. It begged me to be watched on a projector and with a better surround system.

Heh, wish I could do that too. I have yet to watch the DVD copy I bought, but I fear that some of the animations lustre may be lost on my primitive TV.
