See, after watching the film again I did wonder about that. The king says they'll hide her away until she learns how to control her powers, but of course she never does.
It almost seems like they just gave up on her given the length of time shown in that sequence.
Well, if the Trolls had been more explicit that would have been nice. How hard could it have been to say that love was the answer up front.pfft the whole plot line could have been prevented, if only her parents had done what the troll said. Honestly why did no one call social services.
I thought the parents were supportive, but in the end it was a step Elsa had to take herself, not one anyone could show her or tell her about. If anything, the parents problem was that they didn't try and push Elsa our of her comfort zone (Though considering the possible consequences of that, its understandable)

So we blame Mance Rayder then? ![]()
But in all seriousness, if it was all just up to Elsa, it'd be interesting to see how things would have gone down had her parents not kicked the bucket and she never had a reason to face her powers like with the coronation...

You can't be more explicit then saying she has to learn how to control her powers, Elsa's parents done the opposite, they hid her away and taught her to suppress her powers. That suppression and repression led Elsa to overact to a stressful situation and a fight she was having with her sister. So the real bad guys of the film where actually her parents.

Mance Rayder didn't spell it out for them, so yeah. He told Elsa that fear would be her enemy and her parents did the right thing for her sake, trying to help her control her emotions while keeping her and everyone else safe from each other while she still couldn't control it. Had her parents not done what they did, there'd likely be a lot more visits to the trolls, if not that then some possible injuries/deaths, or a forced exodus of child/teen Elsa by Arendelle's community. Thats if they didn't try to kill her outright like in Beauty and The Beast.

You pretty much can, you can tell her how to control it. (Which it seemed like they kinda knew how too) A solutions no use if you have no clue how to go about it.
That'd be like Elrond in LOTR saying the solution to the Sauron problem is to destroy the ring then dramatically adjourning the council to grab a sandwich without saying how.

There was likely pressure on them to conceal it instead as she's a member of the royal family, but yeah, they kinda goofed up. Something that innate to her being and potentially massive in scale can't stay hidden forever. Well, now they knoooooo- okay not breaking into song.So the real bad guys of the film where actually her parents.

Everyone in my family loved it. I stopped for a bit while they were watching it and I have to say that the italian version is unfortunately not that great. I liked Anna, though.
Anyway, I stayed and listened to the the troll song and they are really aggressive in the italian version!
"So she is a bit of a fixer-upper" got translated to "il fidanzato va eliminato" and that means "the boyfriend must be removed/eliminated".
I laughed so hard ![]()

My sides.
That reminds me, there was actually a fan theory doing the rounds once that suggested that the trolls used some magical tomfoolery that caused Hans to suddenly turn the way he did. The whole thing based on one line of a song of course, so it has full credibility. "Get the fiancée out of the way" ![]()

It would be wild if it came out in the Frozen sequel that the trolls made Hans do what he did and he was innocent all along

The trolls admit to it at the start of the sequel, and its off to the Southern Isles to save the Hans from being chastised/executed by his brothers.
Works for me.

They (the parents) should have given Elsa over to the templars in the nearest mage circle obviously. Hiding an untrained apostate mage can only lead to bad things and once again it proved to be correct in this case.

Spoiler
Well, think about what could happen if they didn't keep it a secret, Elsa mingled with the populace, and something went wrong? If Elsa accidentally hurt (Or Heaven forbid, kill) someone in public, the whole kingdom would be afraid of her. At worst, we're talking torches and pitch forks. Elsa's to be Queen someday, that's not the sort of thing her parents want her to deal with when their gone. That's not even going into the emotional trauma such an incident would inflict on Elsa herself.

Exactly. Its like if she was a kid in today's world with a gun strapped to her wrist, connected to her emotions, that fired anytime she touched anything. Teach her how to control her emotions in private and keep her away from people so no one gets hurt=good. Throw her into the populace like she's normal=bad bad bad. Anna and Elsa's parents had it right.

But all her parents taught her, was to suppress her powers her Father even says it to her, not only that they made her ashamed of what she was. Terrible parenting.

They tried to teach her to stay calm and control her emotions, remember? But Elsa was never able to get over her fear. That wasn't something they could force her to do. The best they could do was encourage control and provide emotional support. They did that. She wouldn't need to announce her powers to the world, but she did need to learn how to control them and not suppress them. Bad parents are bad.

They didn't lock her in a room. She could clearly leave it at will, she just chose not to. Anna went to her, not her parents.
