I never said it was rampant. 90% of the people here just gush on about how great the movie is, which I would like to point out is fine with me. I'm simply stating there have being people (and more then 1, despite not posting her as frequently as others trust me when I say I have watched this thread since it was started) that focus on it too much whenever any discussion about quality or whether the movie is worth watching gets brought up.
I've already stated in previous posts that I'm not a huge fan of talking about the sales much in general, which happens a lot here, but I would also like to point out that I do differentiate between someone talking about sales and someone using it as a crutch for their opinion as to why it's a movie worth seeing. And I'm sorry, but even if you claim it just comes down to opinion I still do consider it to be a crutch, sure you can mention it in relation to the film, but using it a prime example as to why someone should see it is incredibly weak.
Well, I can't speak for all the other posters and my memory doesn't hold up well enough to remember specific posts like that, so I'll just speak for myself. I'm no fan of using its popularity as a reason like that either, and if I've ever posted anything that points towards the contrary then I assure you, I'm not. Its a case I've argued against many times with various people. So I didn't much like you lumping the thread together under that belief, and that may have brought on the snark in my previous post, so for that I apologise. I've just never viewed it as enough of a problem here or seen it with any great frequency to justify saying anything.
Despite that, I will say I actually quite enjoy following how the gross has climbed, and that is something that's been done here a heck of lot, just simple tracking, not meant to sway anyone at all. Its brought interesting comparisons, discussion, and as I think I've mentioned before, I'll admit to enjoying poking fun at the more narrow minded people I know, who oddly do care when their favourite films are passed by another they dislike. (without having actually seen it, I might add)
And yes, that was what I meant by the 'one person', I had just hoped to avoid, er... naming and shaming, if that's what you'd call it. Like I said, I dislike using it as a reason, but I don't find it that hard to accept when someone does. (As convenient as that may seem in this context) Some people genuinely do just have enough faith in their fellow human beings to respect their spending choices. Not something I'd do, but I wont berate anyone for it either.
