Well yeah, that tends to be how it goes. Remember they'd been trying to make this movie for decades and decades and decades.

Apparently they were really scratching their heads about how to make it work until someone, and nobody remembers who, suggested that Elsa and Anna be sisters. It all sort of fell out from there.

Even then, Elsa was supposed to go full "wicked-witch-of-the-west" on Arendelle instead of just becoming a recluse.

Given Elsa was voiced by Idina Menzel, that shouldn't come as a surprise, hahaha

They changed it when "Let it go" was being written and the writers realized Elsa had done nothing wrong (Princes logic aside), so she just became evil because.
The change was needed because otherwise you have a villain with little to no motivation, and that's boring.

So far as I remember, (I'm not scrolling through 180 pages to find out) one person's mentioned that viewpoint and its one that he/she is entitled to. Not quite as rampant as you'd like to think.

I never said it was rampant. 90% of the people here just gush on about how great the movie is, which I would like to point out is fine with me. I'm simply stating there have being people (and more then 1, despite not posting her as frequently as others trust me when I say I have watched this thread since it was started) that focus on it too much whenever any discussion about quality or whether the movie is worth watching gets brought up.

I've already stated in previous posts that I'm not a huge fan of talking about the sales much in general, which happens a lot here, but I would also like to point out that I do differentiate between someone talking about sales and someone using it as a crutch for their opinion as to why it's a movie worth seeing. And I'm sorry, but even if you claim it just comes down to opinion I still do consider it to be a crutch, sure you can mention it in relation to the film, but using it a prime example as to why someone should see it is incredibly weak.

Well, I can't speak for all the other posters and my memory doesn't hold up well enough to remember specific posts like that, so I'll just speak for myself. I'm no fan of using its popularity as a reason like that either, and if I've ever posted anything that points towards the contrary then I assure you, I'm not. Its a case I've argued against many times with various people. So I didn't much like you lumping the thread together under that belief, and that may have brought on the snark in my previous post, so for that I apologise. I've just never viewed it as enough of a problem here or seen it with any great frequency to justify saying anything.

Despite that, I will say I actually quite enjoy following how the gross has climbed, and that is something that's been done here a heck of lot, just simple tracking, not meant to sway anyone at all. Its brought interesting comparisons, discussion, and as I think I've mentioned before, I'll admit to enjoying poking fun at the more narrow minded people I know, who oddly do care when their favourite films are passed by another they dislike. (without having actually seen it, I might add)

And yes, that was what I meant by the 'one person', I had just hoped to avoid, er... naming and shaming, if that's what you'd call it. Like I said, I dislike using it as a reason, but I don't find it that hard to accept when someone does. (As convenient as that may seem in this context) Some people genuinely do just have enough faith in their fellow human beings to respect their spending choices. Not something I'd do, but I wont berate anyone for it either.

Not that I keep track of every person that brings it up, but no I don't think you've ever done it in the context I'm talking about. I would consider you one of the fans that is more along the lines of just mindlessly gushing over the series, which again I don't mind. Hell, I actually kind of enjoy the gushing (if you have ever seen the anime thread then you know I'm just as big a fanboy for the things I love as anyone here) so believe me when I say it was not aimed at you. I'll say this: even though I don't quite share your love for Frozen, I respect you as a poster so please don't feel the need to get defensive if I criticize something.

As for enjoying watching the gross rise, don't let what I am saying take away from that in any way shape or form, enjoy the success of something you loved. It just makes much more sense to me to say "I enjoy the success of something I love" rather then justifying your love because it was successful, which again is a differentiation I would like to make in my original point. I would love to say it comes down to opinion and move on, but the honest truth is I feel it's more of an excuse to justify not having to give an opinion.

P.S. I'll remove the name of the user who I called out in my post if you want to do the same in your quote, tbh it really serves no purpose for me to be calling someone out like that. I admit I was just annoyed when I read his post so I kind of wanted to bring it up <_<

I'm an amateur Film critic, and I have yet to gush over Frozen.

The Rebellion Story is another matter entirely.

Be really careful bringing up that movie in this thread. I can only contain my inner fanboy so much before I end up typing out a mini-book over how *nnnnnngghghgsogoodngng* amazing that movie was :pinched:

I can honestly say I completely and utterly lost faith in the Oscars when I found out they didn't even watch it.

8th to 6th this week. I believe this is Frozen's plateau as far as placement with total gross goes, until re-releases in the future.

It would need another 85 or so million to outgross Iron Man 3. Still, hell of a place to be, damn

I don't think anyone will complain with that. :P

I certainly didn't expect it'd get this far.

Look at how far its come. I remember when Let It Go on youtube had less than 30 million views, now its at 194 million and counting, hahaha

When we were flipping out about it making it onto the top 50, and now its sixth

And then it just became a routine thing for Sunday.

Frozen climbed another three places today. Well ok then.

So seeing as things have most definitely died down now, the only real question left is: how long till we hear of a sequel?

I'm just gonna consider that as inevitable at this point, regardless of whether that's a good thing or not in the long term.

In time. We know its coming, but let time pass first. Frozen's still in theatres after all.

But when the sequel's ready to go, I'll change the thread accordingly so the train rolls on

Heh, good, though I'd forgotten there is still one thing to (probably) come before the sequel: the broadway show.

Consider me far more interested in that.

Depends on how long each takes to come out. Remember, they aren't trying to rush the musical, and we've heard nothing on a sequel yet.

Watched Frozen for the first time some days ago. And I gotta say..

I honestly don't see the huge hype about it.

I mean, it wasn't bad, not at all. It was a pretty good movie.

But like I said, I don't get why it's regarded so highly.

And there were some issues with the movie as a whole.

Still not saying it was a bad film but I wasn't like "wow!" or "this is some good stuff!" Just another Disney movie to me that's not a classic.
