Judging by the fact that this movie is still #1 in the box office after being out for as long as it is, I'd say this movie has built up enough grassroot appeal that it doesn't really matter what Disney's PR says.Earthbound N wrote...
Someone at Disney's PR has seriously dun goofed. They're supposed to be going: 'Look at how edgy our film is! All those tropes you white knights on Tumblr keep complaining about? Gone! Straight out the window!'
Instead they deliberately lie towards the contrary despite making it look a great deal less interesting in the process.
And still it does extremely well.

And let me just say (even though I know someone is going to say that I see gay in everything)
But there was definitely some gay undertones regarding Elsa and her magic.
"Conceal it don't feel it....!" Come on.

She literally was concealing her magic and since her feelings affect her powers she had to keep those in constant check.

Ok, maybe just a little.
Just so long as we're not shipping the sisters.

Course, that won't stop the shippers. Shippers don't stop for anybody. hahaha

Of course not.
But Elsa is totally conflicted with her metaphorical lesbo magic and it's all about Elsa coming to peace with it, and Anna helping her comes to it and showing her that she will always love her (platonically) no matter what, and that it's ok for her to be herself and feel love.
And you seriously can not convince me otherwise, especially since Avenue Q was a part of this movie.

This is not coming out of no where LP. Elsa was born differently then everyone else, has to keep it a secret, and it builds up into an inner turmoil until she realizes that it's ok to be her self and to feel love again.LPPrince wrote...

I don't know what would be a better metaphor for someone struggling in the closet.

Elsa always wanted to be dark skinned. This is represented by her wearing darker clothing. When she finally "Lets It Go", she finally comes to terms with her skin color, and represents this by creating a lighter attire.
...thats what you sound like. Reeeaaaching

That obviously doesn't work because when she finally let's go she becomes a light blue ice princess. I am not reaching. I'm not the only person who saw this.
Seriously she was outed at party.

Then more than one person is reaching.
Sure I am...
Would it be fine then if I said the movie was about Elsa being in the closet about her magic and that the LGBTQ community can really relate to lyrics such as...
"Don't let them in, don't let them see
Be the good girl you always have to be
Conceal, don't feel, don't let them know
Well now they knowLet it go, let it go
Can't hold it back any more
Let it go, let it go
Turn away and slam the door
I don't care what they're going to say"
But it doesn't stand for anything metaphorically because we just have to take everything in on a literal level... of course.

Its cool that people can relate to the lyrics, I'm just saying lets not pretend thats what the lyrics actually mean or thats their intent
There's canon and fanon, after all

You know thats about her cryokinetic magic and being collected enough to not kill someone with it, right?
Or rather the fear her parent's had that their kingdom might not react kindly to the fact that her daughter was different then all of them. Protecting not only Anna's life, but also her life and their reputations.
And that they possibly weren't so supportive of it themselves either, unlike Anna. "You know what's a great way to control something you with born with! Never using those powers or experimenting with them, we'll even try to completely forget about them!" Gawd what magicphobes.
And then the one person who Elsa could be herself with is taken away from her.
