Wait, do they mean whitewashing as in "to gloss over or cover up vices, crimes or scandals or to exonerate by means of a perfunctory investigation or through biased presentation of data" or having white characters in roles originally meant for characters of other races?
The latter. Frankly the whole thing's so silly it isn't worth an ounce of discussion though.
This on the other hand...

So let's just talk about Anna for a bit
Anna seems to get a little overshadowed by her sister, perhaps for lack of ice powers, but I think she's just as good a character in her own way.
I particularly like that she went through a bucket load of crap throughout her childhood, but hasn't come out any worse for wear from it, extreme quirkiness aside. Takes some guts.

When I went and saw the film I was expecting a good movie experience (based on the praise I'd heard about it) but I never expected to leave the theaters with a goofy grin of satisfaction on my face. I really had a hard time not loving everything about the movie.
I saw it in 3D and hot diggity the visuals were amazing! Technical precision and innovation is expected nowadays when it comes to computer animation and Frozen combines that gorgeously. The color scheme is highly saturated, Elsa's palace is an architectural wonder (though sadly not explored to its fullest) and I felt that even the snow had that blue quality of real snow.
I didn't know what to expect from the story department of the movie, but I was genuinely surprised. Frozen looked like it was your typical princess movie, with all the glorious songs, settings and themes, but the story is driven by deeper characterization and emotion than usual, which really challenged my expectations. Even in the end of the movie, when I thought I was fully aware on how it would end, Frozen slapped me right in the face (which is a good thing). I also loved how the love story was in the background, not the foreground as in most Disney movies, with a more focus on the sisterly love and the misunderstandings that make life difficult between between Elsa and Anna.
The characters were quite multidimensional and the movie managed to characterize them surprisingly well. I really liked how the movie didn't really have a "real" villain in it, and while they did have their own personal motivations that drove them, they still had other peoples interest at heart (of course it could have been a mere ruse on a certain characters part). Olaf was the exasperating pander of the movie and quite annoying at times, but he warmed up to me during the end. Not sure whom of the sisters I like more, since they are both awesome in their own way. Probably Anna for now, cause I really enjoyed her adorkable, tomboyish nature.
And of course, the music. The reason why I loved the music in the movie was not simply because they were great musical pieces, but how well they were incorporated. E.g. Elsa leaving Arendelle to seclude herself to the mountains and they way she feels about everything now is well expressed through the Let it Go soundtrack, Anna finally being able to interact and escape her own seclusion from the castle in For the First Time in Forever (probably my favorite one), the Trolls singing about that love not only makes everything better but even us ourselves, and more.
One other reason why I loved the movie was how heavily it was influenced by Scandinavia. And being a Scandinavian myself, catching up some cultural references and such was really eye candy for me.
So yeah, in summary I really fell in love with this movie. I never expected to buy a Disney movie ever again, but this one will be a must buy when it comes out.

Pretty much everything I was too lazy to say after I got back from my viewing, except that I did quite like Olaf.
Particularly the goofy grin bit. Seems to be something of a trend.

Great character, definitely one of the strongest parts of the movie(naturally). Easy to relate to, given her awkwardness and adorkable nature.

Frozen has officially surpassed The Lion King in total domestic gross(The Lion King made around $312 million to Frozen's now $317 million). Thats not counting re-releases, I believe.
Still climbing.

Disney don't do sequels too often at any rate, but I'd never underestimate the power of the dollar.
Anyway, that's neither here nor there. They've done well to accomplish what they have, especially considering their...inaccurate advertising.

Then those people take to the internet and convince anyone sat on the fence.
Well played Disney. Well played. Hell, even the whitewashing 'controversy' will just bring it more attention.

Frozen's nominated for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song for "Let It Go".
Rooting for it in both cases.
Here's its competition-
Best Animated Feature Film-
"The Croods"
"Despicable Me 2"
"Frozen"
Best Original Song-
"Atlas"- "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"
"Let It Go"- "Frozen"
"Ordinary Love"- "Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom"
"Please Mr. Kennedy"- "Inside Llewyn Davis"
"Sweeter Than Fiction"- "One Chance"
If Frozen wins either of these, better yet both of them, it just means even MORE people are gonna be making sure seats are sold out for it at the theatre

But, of course, anybody around my age will remember the 90's and early 2000's and the absolute glut of direct-to-video sequels that Disney's TV and direct-to-video studios put out. They weren't all universally terrible (I remember the Aladdin and Lion King sequels being pretty well received), but the majority were shovelware.
Basically if they really wanted - i.e. devote the theatrical animation studio to it - to they could probably pull it off. Do a crossover with Frozen and Tangled (since we know those two are in the same universe) and Brave and call it the Adjective Tetralogy.

Personally I'm hoping Tatiana Maslany wins "Best TV Actress in a Drama", I thought she was rather brilliant as Helena. Helena is best clone.LPPrince wrote...

Having just listened to all of these I'd say Frozen's in with a good chance here. Will they be looking at a specific version of 'let it go'? Can't seem to find an answer on that one.
