Yup, nothing dubious, underhanded, or deceptive in that image.

"Abusive" makes me laugh. Tumblr loves that word. I don't think they know what it means.

True

But Frozen is pretty dark as far as Disney goes.  I can't think of any others that start off with a near accidental child fratricide and the death of the parents.

Can't think of Disney movies that don't start off with the death of the parents????

Bambi
Cinderella
Snow White
Hunchback of Notre Dame
The Jungle Book
The Fox and the Hound
The Little Mermaid
Finding Nemo

And those are just the ones I can think of.  Not all of them involve the parent (the mother, nearly always) dying as one of the events of the movie, but I'd say that MOST Disney movies involve dead parents.

Now that I think of it, yes, but I was thinking more about the near fratricide part and the way the parent's deaths played such a pivotal role in the movie isolated the sisters.  I don't know, it just struck me harder than most of the ones you mentioned.

On the matter of Elsa's parents, I share Prince's viewpoint, but I totally get where everyone else is coming from. Something like ten years worth of back story gets covered during a three minute song, so its all basing a great deal of very little. Without being given more information in the film, both interpretations seem valid.

A lot of pics now of Elsa getting all combat ready.

Really though, you wouldn't be using a sword if you had cryokinesis.

Went to see it again today. I had the theater all to myself, and yes, I sang along.

I usually find that weekdays in the early afternoon are a good time to see animated movies, since I'm a 36 year-old single man who doesn't want to look like a creeper. Unfortunately, I tried the same thing last week when I saw it for the first time and totally forgot about MLK Day and there not being any school.

Also, I missed the trailers the first time, so I only just saw the How To Train Your Dragon preview. Looks awesome!

I did! Caught some things I missed the first time. Like Rapunzel (though I actually knew to look for her this time), and in the scene where Marshmallow throws Anna and Kristoff out of the ice palace you can when they roll down the stairs passed Sven, you can see that he's got his tongue stuck to the bannister.

Aye, its the little things. For example, I didn't catch that Elsa's hair during the coronation and party was styled after her mother's. :)

Damn, that must have been a nice change of pace to just sit and enjoy the movie. I mean, hearing reactions are one thing, but i'd rather cut out some of the noise and not have to be enraged by the guy up in front on facebook for 50% of the movie.

To be fair, with the link going around the web it isn't hard to catch the film at ease without company.

Side note- Let It Go will hit 60 million views on Youtube today. I've noticed that it gets about 2 million views every 24 hours.

I've done that several times, though thin walls prevent me from singing along too loudly.

Aesir?

Please.

LET IT GO, LET IT GO

CAN'T HOLD ME BACK ANYMORE

LET IT GO, LET IT GO

TURN AWAY AND SLAM THE DOOR

I DON'T CARE, WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO SAY

LET THE STORM RAGE ON, THE COLD NEVER BOTHERED ME ANYWAY

Well it would certainly give my neighbor that likes to play extended electric guitar solos something to think about.
