Frozen went from 50th to 42nd two weeks ago, then this week went from 42nd to 34th

Its passed Desolation of Smaug and Catching Fire

And is $140 million away from grossing one billion dollars

That's f*cking awesome! You go, Disney!

Who was it here who posted that he / she had said found Frozen better than The Hobbit to his / her family and everyone had made a big fuzz over it? I guess this could silence them, unless they are really bias.

That won't change minds. Avatar's success despite its reviews proves that people will always have a reason to say success≠quality.

Anyway, assuming Frozen can consistently make $40 million each week, it would need four weeks to gross over a billion.

Note the Chinese release is on the 5th, Sing-Along version is to be released in the UK on the 7th, and Japan still won't have the movie for over a month.

That would be me, though I still don't know whether that was down to a "WTF why does he liek teh princesses moar than teh dragons, battles and orcs?" mentality or their disdain for Disney's modern works.

Needless to say, I will find out when I force them to watch it after the retail release.

Tumblr loves this movie so much I feel like I've seen half of it in gifs.

But I liked Tangled, so I'll get around to seeing this when it comes out.

As a neutral person in all this, I must say I am both awestruck and dumbfounded that this movie is doing so insanely well, and that I like the desolation of smaug a lot better then I did frozen.

Frozen was good, but as it's own thing, in a category completely seperate from the hobbit films. A character drama vs a character action adventure.

Well, of the three movies all next to each other in the all time list,

36th, The Desolation of Smaug, made around 30% of its total gross domestically. The vast majority was overseas.

35th, Catching Fire, made about 50% of its total gross each domestically and overseas.

34th, Frozen, made about 42% domestically and 58% overseas.

Smaug made the least of the three domestically, but made the most overseas.

Catching Fire made the most domestically, but made the least overseas.

Frozen middles out of the three as far as total domestic and total overseas goes, but added up, it outgrosses them both.

Don't get me wrong, I still loved Desolation of Smaug (easily one of my most favorite films), but Frozen trumped it by just a smidgen for me.

And as for comparing the two, I did that just to express how much I enjoyed Frozen, i.e 'Well I kept going on about how great this film was, but you know what? I actually liked that one better.'

I find it funny that in order to get to a billion, Frozen has to surpass The Lion King, the closest movie that never made it.

Its $123.1 million behind The Lion King

If it can beat it, it shouldn't have trouble getting the remaining $12.5 million to break into the billion mark.

^Get everyone to stand outside the cinema to rub it in then leave? :P

Only Thranduil could be that much of an ass.

And then of course Japan will come straight out of left field in well over a months time. Perhaps they'll be the ones to push it over.

Okay, something just dawned on me.

Olaf asks Kristoff if Anna knows how to knock when they're finally at the Ice Castle.

Anna. Knocking on Elsa's door.

OH THE FEELS, I'M GETTING THE FEELS GAIZ
