For the life of me I will never comprehend why the heck MMO games are so damn popular these days. Personally, I think being unable to use cheats or mods or otherwise tinker with it as I like blows.

Also, I only want to pay for something once, and then utilize it at my own discretion. I detest and refuse to buy something and then pay monthly fee to continue using it. That's probably the most tactful way I can describe why I despise MMO's with a burning, fiery passion.

Hence why I'm so sorely disappointed about the new Neverwinter, but I'm just not going to talk about that.

Please don't take DA down the MMO route. It's an atrocity and affront to the video game industry. Image IPB

Yeah I don't play MMORPGs either, they're a steaming pile of wasted time buzzing with douchebags who scream about noobs.

I think the game who created all the fandom of MMO's game inadvertently destroyed the genre.

That is an apt description of most MMOs.

I like WoW. Ands mods are overrated. The only games I really really like using them in are DAO and Morrowind.

Oh but I don't want DA to be an MMO either. They'd probably devote all their time to it instead of making more single player games.

I'm still waiting for a MMO like .Hack without the real death that would be an awesome MMO letting you make your own items for the game.

I totally against MMO, it is a blight upon game industry and gaming culture. Because of MMO many franchises destroyed such as KotOR, and because of MMO, social and internet community become bad. Because of MMO, humanity is in danger....MMO culture is evil and must be stopped.

I'm not a fan of MMOs myself, but nothing objectively wrong with them and people happening to dig them, just another kind of entertainment.

Though on the topic of Inquisition, I'd agree that I hope Bioware continues to focus mostly on fun single-player experiences, and doesn't let MMOs influence them too much. Especially the whole OCD "collect-a-thon" or "upgrade treadmill" addictive stuff, kind of  a broad topic but some of these elements can make RPGs tedious.

Long story short, keep doing what you're doing, I've enjoyed it so far.

The internet has absolutely no need of MMOs to "become bad".

Not saying I want to turn DA into an MMO though. It's not a genre I generally play (only have GW2). I prefer singleplayer campaigns any day of the week.

Yeah. Virtual reality gaming would be awesome.

not much of an mmo'er either, the only one that's ever caught my interest is TES, but then I'm a TES fan, lol. I think bioware's been heading the right way with this and ME, I'm just hoping for a PvE Mp like ME 3, give me that and I'll be happy, I just want to play DA WITH someone.

MMOs popular? I was under the impression they weren't?
I think that the popular-perception is more a case of greedy publishers assuming that just because WoW had 12 mil users at peak, every wellmade MMO could achieve 12 mil subscribers.
I see it differently. I think WoW showcased the entire customer base for MMOs, any and all MMO, all over the globe.

That's a huge over-generalisation. Given the proper enviroment, they can be the best RPGs ever made. Just avoid ****s like you would in real life and you'll be sorted. I've only ever had that problem a few times in LOTRO for all the years I've played it on and off.

MMO's could be good but sadly most of the time they are boring grind's.

But I AM curious how Bioware would go about their "gay planet" nonsense in Thedas.

Never been an issue in the DA-franchise to begin with.
While it is odd for BW to not have s/s included in TOR from the start, as they've done in their games for quite a number of years (in KotOR 1, too! Think Juhani) , including that after the fact in TOR via content of Makeb's nature is a fair enough compromise, rather than not having it done at all. Then again, given the drama all that involved, it may have been better to keep romance-content entirely out. As is, leaving that to the imagination or having players /emote with one another works just as well, if not better.

While I like TOR for what it is, given the choice I've got to say I would rather have had a KotOR 3 in its stead, as well, as I posited elsewhere.

Not a fan of subscriptions myself. If TOR wouldn't have a F2P-model (borked as it is in places; not downright awful like, say, some Korean MMOs, but LOTRO did better), I wouldn't have touched it at all.

MMO's would be fine if they for once tried to get the "MMO" part right.

MMOs are the blight of PC-exclusive game development. Easy way to make money without creating something amazing. MMO developers concentrate mostly on developing effective and tricky ways to convince users to pay, while considering all other aspects of a game as secondary.

MMOs literally flooded the entire PC game development, and the only way to oppose that plague is to stop using PC as a gaming platform. I did that, and I'm happy. Sony doesn't allow many MMOs to be produced for their Play Station, and the ones allowed are at least well-made modern AAA products, unlike most of those cheap PC "Skinner boxes".

My observation: MMOs are like Marijuana. You can easily avoid them but if you try them you become a miserable addict for the rest of your life!

Now those 12 Millions are addicted. There is a big market for MMO because of them. So everyone should avoid Neverwinter, Elder Scrolls Online, WOW etc. This is for your own good and for the game industry. More addicts, more trends towards MMOs.

I found the original Guild Wars to be one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had when I was playing it.
