Exactly, Seival. Why would someone stop the payment if they enjoy it? Relate that to any MMO with a subscription base. And yes you can buy a modern PC for 500$, just don't be stupid and find deals that are everywhere. You realize when crafting a PC you don't have to get every part right away. Also, you're interested in concept art and such right, or the gaming business in general? Guess what you have to use.

New subscription based MMO - new subscription. You have to stay till the end of subscription in previous MMO to avoid loosing pre-paid money. Or maybe you want to play 2 such MMOs? That will be twice more expensive. And the problem is that MMOs are 99% of PC gaming market. There is nothing else to play there. Remaining 1% are cross-platform games and I will be able to play them on my console anyway (will get half of them for free from PS plus most likely :) ).

Gaming PC for 500$ will not run even WoW smoothly. And it will be sent to trash can within half of the year. As for workstation - PC is workstation, yes. And I use it exactly as workstation. For me PC gaming doesn't exist anymore. End of story.

Sony deserves a slap for now charging for multiplayer. One of the reasons I chose PS3 over XB360 was because of the free multiplayer.

Bethesda does not even own the rights to the game. They sold them. To their parent company, but still they no no longer own it. I wish that people would realise this after years of it being said. Bethesda could not make the game, even if they wanted to. The most they could do is make passing references to it in a future ES game.

So basically, Zenimax came down shivering with the MMO-fever, and wrung the ES I.P. from Bethesda's hands?

That's not quite correct. Bethesda Softworks, Zenimax Online Studios, Bethesda Game Studios, id Software, MachineGames, Arkane Studios, Tango Gameworks, etc., are simply different divisions of the same parent company, Zenimax Media Inc. They are not fighting for IP with a sister division of their own company.

What.

I like your figures there too.

Just to name a few.

The greed has overtaken all aspects of the gaming industry not just MMO:

- 'PS4 and XBox 1' have yearly subscriptions
- 'DLCs'
- 'Disastrous mobile games' that force you to pay for faster winning (If you're not patient)
- 'Other Internet games' that you have to pay to win or others will conquer you
- 'Soundtracks' that you should buy. Because in late 90s and early 2000s developers were so wrong to put the games music in mp3 format in the game directory itself. Nope milk it too.
- etc.

Correction: PS4 has PS Plus, which allows you to get some games (including some of the most expensive ones) for free and use multiplayer in all PS4 games which have multiplayer. Payment is almost the same as for one subscription-based MMO. For all of mentioned things.

Do you have a centralized service on PC which requires monthly subscription and allows you to play any multiplayer game (including any MMO) for free? No... Conclusion: considering next-gen consoles' low price and all things I mentioned above (including previous post) - modern console gaming will cost you less money, and provide you with healthy environment free of all sorts of trash grinding/farming primitive games.

Fun fact: Pretty much any non-MMO multiplayer on the PC is free...unlike console multiplayer.

There are still many pay-to-win and subscription-based games on PC, and they keep making this trash. On PS4 you pay 60$ per year for multiplayer in all games with multiplayer (not just for one of them) plus you get several 60$-AAA-games for free. And don't forget that deals and sales are not PC-exclusive feature :)

Until you stop paying the $60. Let's not pretend that any game is "free" or really even on "sale."

Only tried WoW for a few days, but it seemed to be one of the least demanding games out there on my 4-year old laptop. You can almost run it on a calculator or at least a really old junk PC.

That's the way to go Seival.

Don't let silly things like reality or facts get in the way of rampant Sony fanboyism and the belief that just because you like it makes it flawless in every way imaginable. If the facts don't line up how you want them to, just make up your own that do.

Or you could just realize that all gaming platforms have their ups and downs and are essentially equal to each other, but I suspect this is asking too much.

But anyways, seeing as how this IS an MMO thread: My old gaming PC that wouldn't cost you more than around $200 these days(if that) could run WoW smoothly.

WoW is a 9 year old game at this point, and though they've updated the graphics over the years it's still not a highly demanding game, especially in the graphics department.

Actually, most MMOs are not that graphically demanding.

I would think that way too, if PS Plus would be just about paying for multiplayer. But it's not. I saved, how many?... 180$ last year by getting Remember Me, Dragon Dogma, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for free... Yes I used PS Plus even on PS3, because it saves me a lot of money. And if I'm already paying for PS Plus to get some games much cheaper anyway, why should I care that it's required to play multiplayer now? :)

Overall console gaming costs me less than PC gaming did. Plus I have access to really amazing games that will never be released on PC. Plus I lose nothing by refusing PC as gaming station, because all new AAA games (except console exclusives) will be cross-platform, and I'll play them on my PS4 anyway.

Let PC game market rot in MMO graveyard. I believe it deserved that. PC is not what started game development, and it will never become primary gaming platform anyway. PC was created for work, not for entertainment. And MMOs were created to consume huge amounts of your time and money, giving only killed time and wasted real life opportunities in return.

It look like 20-years-old-game on 4-years old PC... And on 5000$ PC it look like 10-years-old-game :)

I've realized that while most of those games are 'free' you need to spend alot of money to be good. Which sucks for poor uni student me.

PS+ was good largely because it was optional now it is being forced on anyone who wants to play multiplayer. Anyways i've said it before MMO's don't have to be always bad they have potential games like the crew and the division seem to being trying to reinvent the formula.

Part of me wants to add Destiny to that even though it's not a real MMO

Those that are trying something new are always nice to see in any genre.

We already have World of Warcraft, so I don't really want half a dozen more World of Warcrafts.
