Would this be an easy way for new players to get Lone Wolf? (Reave only Gold duo video)

So HardcoreFish and I decided to do a Gold duo using only Reave a few days ago, and while doing it it struck me just how easy it was. Sure it takes a bit longer when you don't use your weapon or your other powers, but it was just soooo easy with Reave. None of us used Cyclonics and we would have got 10 waves survived if it were not for a glitchy Brute who all of a sudden f*cked me over by flying over my head and then falling off the map.

Some would say that the Huntress might be better for a hit and run strategy like this, but I beg to differ. With the Justicar and Reave you can hit multiple targets at once with reave and it also stacks, and since you don't get any extra weapon damage on the Huntress then the difference is all about their powers.

Kroguard Geth would of course be easy as well, but a lot of players can't get it done due to having to be in the face of the enemy all the time and a less experienced player will often die even with the Kroguard in those situations.

Now, in this duo we didn't use anything else than Reave to kill enemies. If we used biotic detonations, put on a weapon that could also do some damage and used rockets then it would have been much easier. But the whole point of the video was to demonstrate just how easy it was to complete a match by only using one power, and that works perfectly well in a solo as well just that it takes a bit longer.

So, for anyone struggling to get their Lone Wolf banner, try out the Justicar for a change of pace ;)

Video: www.youtube.com/watch

Here are some solo videos that I made after this duo:

Video 1: Asari Justicar using only reave, no weapons used, no rockets used, no bubble used, did use Geth Scanner and Power Amplifier IV, also had the Power Amp V on my weapon. Got 10 waves survived. Took 55 minutes.

Video 2: Asari Justicar using the Phalanx (which most players should have), did use rockets, used reave and bubble, used Power Amp V and Barrel on weapon, used Armor Piercing IV, Pistol Amp III, Power Amplifier IV, Geth Scanner. Took 35 minutes. Would have had 10 waves survived if I wouldn't have done something stupid.

Video 3: Same as video 2 but switched weapon to the Collector SMG, didn't have a good solo because I was expecting a faster time than 30 minutes. Would have been 10 waves survived if not for Mr. Phaeston on wave 10 pizza objective.

You can't hit multiple targets with DC and you don't get the damage reduction as you get from reave.

You can actually do more DPS with Reave than with DC since you can target three enemies at once with Reave and you can stack the damage.

If you put Reave on a target twice then you will do more damage to one target than you would do with a cloaked Dark Channel. So imagine if you did it to three targets at once?

Maybe on consoles it is possible but on PC I doubt it because on PC the AI is not brain dead.

I don't think a solo would be that easy because in a duo you can stack reave quicker. Good job anyway. But if we are talking about fully specked justicar using all her powers and weapons, then yes it's one good option for lone wolf.

Lol, I bet that as long as the player is not the one who's brain dead then it will work just as well on PC. Or you can't use a hit and run strategy on PC? :D

Very cool video. I like the idea - never tried it myself in a duo. Usually I reave and then spank with the wraith (HVB and smart choke).

I will have to try it. thanks for the video

I think I should do a solo using only Reave just to see how long it would take, because as you say it is a lot faster when there are two players stacking Reave together. But it doesn't neglect the fact that it could be a really easy solo to do it this way, and especially if you also use the bubble and pair it with a good weapon.

Don't know if a defensive or offensive bubble would be better for players who struggle with Lone Wolf though.

Probably can be done on PC as well but it will be harder for sure. Definitely not "an easy way for new players to get Lone Wolf" as this would be even challenging for experienced veterans as well.

I would really want to try one Gold match and one Platinum match with a whole team using only Reave and nothing else. It is my belief that it would be one of my fastest Gold games ever without rockets.

FTL, sometimes you are such a troll. But to take your post somewhat serious, how would it not be easy on PC to spam a power and go hide behind cover?

I don't believe for a second that experienced veterans would find this challenging at all on PC, but I would sure like to get some more opinions about the subject before making my mind up completely.

So BSN, what say you? Would this be very hard to do on PC?

Wouldn't the easyest and cheesyest way be to have a full team that bails on extraction?

I don't think it would be much harder than on console, but I don't think that it is the easyest way.

Most fresh players have trouble doing exactly what is required here - running, hiding/soft cover, kitting.

But on a second note, nice vid guys, I hope it helps someone.

That would be cheating in order to get it. I read about someone managing to get that to work once here, but I don't know if people have actually been able to duplicate that.

Well anyway, as I said it, the problem is not in killing.

It's similar but I don't know if it would be easier. Having to stand so close to the enemies can be hard for new players since they will often die even while using a Geth Trooper. If they don't get shot to death by multiple enemies at once then they severely risk getting sync killed by standing that close to enemies.

I was the first one to post a video with Flamer/Acolyte/Cryo Rounds back in the days (which I used on the Vorcha in the past and then again on the GT when he was released), then Caineghis made some modifications to my build so that it would better suit new players by taking off the Hunter Mode (thus increasing shields).

So I feel that I have a pretty decent experience for both GT/Flamer and AJ/Reave, and in my opinion the AJ/Reave would be easier while the GT/Flamer would be faster.

It's the same as when comparing enemy factions for solo speedruns. Cerberus is generally faster but Reapers are generally easier, sounds weird but it's true.

Someone should do a vid that would explain the best way to move through the maps, and how to do the objectives when you're alone.

Reeguard/Geth/Cyclonic IV is always going to be the easiest...

Slayer/Cerberus is braindead easy too if you avoid Atlases till the end.

Salmon can do it I guess, he just started recording commentary and as far as I know he will be doing some guides for this multiplayer.

Will he show me how to put the Crutcholyte on every class? :P

Would you believe me if I told you that I've had a lot of friends who could never complete a Gold solo with that?

It is probably easier for most players, but it also requires more skill than the video I just posted. I mean, all it takes is for the Kroguard to get staggered once and he's basically dead against Geth even with Cyclonic IV. A few Bombers and a Pyro can easily get you killed if you don't know what you're doing.

But then again, the title of this thread said "easy way" and not "easiest way", and I wanted to share this for people who had trouble getting the Lone Wolf. That would mean that they would have trouble getting the Lone Wolf with the GT/Flamer and the Reeguard because otherwise they would have already got the banner. I just wanted to give them another option to use that might be more suited to their individual playstyle because not all players want or can be in the face of the enemies during a whole solo.

Yes you see, I would have no trouble getting to wave 3 plat..say..reapers/giant, without using any consumables. Hell, I'll do it without ever dropping my SG but I will probbably need 5 gels, all 6 ops packs, and a few missiles to get through that objective alive, and those numbers can varry depending on the situation.

Just an example.
